I wrote two one-shots for a Pride and Prejudice one (in their time period, not HP's) that was fun, and I've always wished I had the focus to write more of it.
Mr Bennet would be a former Ravenclaw, of course, and I imagined Mrs Bennet as a Muggle (she'd totally have been a Crabbe-and-Goyle-style Slytherin if she weren't, though). Jane's a Hufflepuff, and Elizabeth and Lydia raging Gryffindors (all three play Quidditch--Seeker, Chaser and Beater respectively--though only Lydia is seriously into it). Mary and Kitty got thrown into Gryffindor too, mostly because it fits less badly than anywhere else. Mr Collins is a Squib. Wickham's one of the jerkass Gryffindors you get occasionally; in a different way, so is Lady Catherine. Charlotte Lucas would have been Slytherin, but she's Muggleborn, so she ends up in Ravenclaw with Darcy; the Hat considered Slytherin for him for maybe two seconds. They're in the same year and become friends, which ends up being really awkward for her in later years (Elizabeth is seven years younger, so they don't interact with her there). Bingley's a Muggleborn Hufflepuff in Jane's year, who Darcy takes under his wing, and Georgiana's in Hufflepuff too. I imagine there's some kind of intrigue with proto-proto-Death Eaters and much sharper boundaries between Muggle and wizarding society, just because they're so different (especially wrt gender and such).
