there's a lot of g&f s4 thought floating around in my tumblr dash, a lot of it absolutely spot on (here, here, though I don't entirely agree). i don't really have much intelligent thought to add to it, except that i don't really watch this fannishly beyond reading fic written by authors i've loved for years now. there is, however, something i need to get out, because i found season 4 deeply affecting, for reasons that i will not speak of. perhaps it will suffice to say that ( spoilers )

ANYWAY it seems dollsome has written a bit of post-season fic and while I haven't read it yet I'm also sure it is stellar, so here's a link for self-reference: this place could be beautiful

Catching up on B99 S3 has been fun. I am a very critical viewer of the show but they've fixed a lot of their Jake Problem, even if a lot of their writing for Boyle is still irredeemable garbage.

(PS: Harbart, his landmark 2003 novel, appears to be available in Kindle! I have not read the translation, but Arunava Sinha is a brilliant translator whose works I've enjoyed in the past. Goodreads reveiws, because Amazon doesn't have any.)

I have been super impressed by the five (or was it six?) episodes of Korra S3 I've caught so far, not in the least because they seem to have not lost their pacing after picking up magnificently mid-S2 and taking the mytharc to epic AtLA-worthy levels in the S2 finale. More than ever, it feels like an organic extension of the Avatar 'verse - does, in fact, make it richer in its exploration of the ( spoilers )

So far, my only complaint seems to be NEEDS MORE CHIEF SOKKA. But that's always my complaint.

I was two weeks behind on TGW and catching up was sheer joy. I have missed everyone! I don't have much to say about them except Zach grew up really pretty (I will not perv), Diane is still the best and I'm disappointed about the lack of Kalinda. It should not be this hard for a show of this calibre to come up with a decent plotline for the only character of colour in their main cast (remember the Emmy, guys?) in their stellar fifth season - a plotline that DOESN'T make her an accessory in everyone else's story. Kalinda's not an extra and I would appreciate if they stopped treating her as one.

In which DC Comics does something right, and brings back Stephanie Brown for Snyder's Batman Eternal weekly.

I... stayed away from comics in general (but I did read Hawkeye #11) after Morrison did that thing that we're not talking about, but I can feel myself slowly wanting to pick up Wonder Woman again and catch up on Li'l Gotham, Batwoman (ANDREYKO!) and possibly Batman too, despite the disappointment that was Court of Owls.

Marvel has also now announced a Black Widow book with the awesome Phil Noto on art duty, so it will now be added to my Marvel Titles One May Begin With list alongside Captain Marvel and Hawkeye.

TGW season-opener was great. As expected, ( spoilers )

HOWEVER. I ASSUME ALL OF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN THIS, BUT IT IS NEW TO ME: FOX ACQUIRES 'GOTHAM':

It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In Gotham, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman, who will not be part of the series.

I EXPECT IT TO GO FULL ON GOTHAM CENTRAL AFTER SOME TIME (BECAUSE SURELY THERE WILL BE MANY SEASONS AND I SHOULD STOP BEING SO EXCITED, AAAH).

But ANYWAY. tanndell has been fancasting Lucy Liu as Batman for a while now, and now I have added Harry Shum Jr as her Nightwing and Michelle Yeoh as her Gordon to the cast list. Idris Elba is a strong contender for Alfred, except that then I might ship Batman/Alfred and I don't know how to deal with that.

Seize the day

I appear to not be dealing with responsible adulthood very well. How is it that I blink and it's the weekend, and I still haven't got anything done? However, marina was in town last month, and despite work + life being a black hole of nothingness, we managed to have a great time, and I even managed to take a couple of satisfactory photographs.

tanndell and I watched the Elementary season premiere, and I'm delighted to report that it's as delightful as ever. ( spoilers ) In all, immensely happymaking.

We have also been watching Korra, which continues to bite issues that it can't quite manage to chew, but I'm nonetheless thoroughly entertained by it. ( spoilers till 2.04 )

However? NEEDS MORE BEIFONG

We've also watched the first two episodes of Sleepy Hollow, which is ridiculously good, and by that I mean it is good because it is so utterly ridiculous. It appeals to that part of me that is enamoured by OUAT, so the very fact that GEORGE WASHINGTON'S BIBLE is an actual plotpoint is enough to keep me watching. The two leads are utterly charming, and I'm convinced that Ichabod Crane needs to meet Steve so that they can start a Democracy Club where they talk about TRUTH, JUSTICE AND EQUALITY in a really earnest fashion.

Also, Fringe fans should note that John Noble is now joining the cast.

I have not yet watch TGW or OUAT, but I will soon!
