Random squee post of the day

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide. Just *look* at the list of fandoms: Aladdin! Little Women! Alice in Wonderland! Bend it Like Beckham! Beowulf! (no, really. i wonder if they requested Beowulf/Grendel?) Captain Planet! (no one seems to have requested it, alas!) Clarissa! Three Musketeers! Good Omens! (my new sekrit fandom love) Jane Austen! Enid Blyton! Anne of Green Gables! Shakespeare! (Twelfth Night, even!) And these are just a few of them. I had seriously, *seriously* considered signing up and requesting Olivia/Viola, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able produce a good fic that fast. Sometimes I hate my slacker self. *sigh*

Should I be worried that the first pairing that came to my mind while considering Macbethslash is Macbeth/Duncan? I mean, Macbeth is pretty much unslashable (and with Shakespeare, that's saying something), and I heart Lady Macbeth, but I could at least consider Macbeth/Banquo. But Macbeth/Duncan?

Also, could someone *please* tell me not to think of teh fandom funny in public places? Pretty!Shy!Boy at the bus-stop clearly thought I was insane, while Scary!Punk!Smelly!Boy (well, I didn't go and smell him exactly, but he sure looked like he hadn't taken a bath in ages) thought I was smiling at him and attempted to get very friendly, which I really could've done without.

Whoa. I can't even identify a good number of those fandoms. What's Good Omens, and why is it slashed with Dogma (one of my favorite movies)? Clarissa! Gah!! Must read that again soon....

Read Good Omens now! It's written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, at once hysterically funny and blasphemous. I don't think anyone can resist falling in love with Crowley and Aziraphale. I haven't seen Dogma, but I do know a little bit about it - let's just say it would make one hell of a cross-over. *g*

Read it! I couldn't recommend it more.

The Clarissa here is the tv show, though.

The blurb on the back of the book reads...

We hear the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. Unfortunately, Sister Mary Loquacious of the Chattering Order has misplaced the Antichrist. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride motorcycles. And the representatives from Heaven and Hell have decided they actually like the human race...

Need more convincing? *g*

Bwahahahahaha!

Sold! *g*

Clarissa the TV show - do you mean the one with the blonde teen? LOL - I was thinking about that book by Richardson, something very different!

Yeah, that's the one. I used to be quite fond of it at one time. The Richardson book OTOH... let's just say I have issues with Mr. Richardson. *g*

Random brush with fame

Melissa Joan Hart, "Clarissa" of the TV show, until not that long ago, lived right here in my dinky little town.

We must have a chat about Mr. Richardson, after I've reread him. Did you ever see the dramatization of the book with Sean Bean in it?

Hee. I had to take a few messages regarding a HR forum last week, and I'm sure people were wondering why I was smirking. *g* And then there's the lawyer whose initials are BNF...
