I fall more in love with Korra with every episode. She was lost, and scared. OMG, Korra, COME LET ME GIVE YOU A HUG!

I like Asami, and think she and Mako are very cute. That said, she and Korra need to become friends ASAP so that we can avoid a tedious love triangle.

Tenzin being a good father-figure to Korra was wonderful.

Lin has SCARS ON HER FACE. AND? SHE JOINED THE POLICE FORCE AFTER HER MOTHER, OMG.

HOW INCREDIBLY HOT WERE TOPH, SOKKA AND AANG IN THE FLASHBACK? I WANT MORE BACKSTORY NOW.

As am I, LOL. I adore Aang, don't get me wrong, but my investment in Korra is fast moving towards the One True Character category.

Also, god, the WHINING of shippers in this fandom! I do not understand. I have been in many fandoms for many years, but this is something else altogether.

I don't think he's handling her very well which tbf is probably down to her extreme case of teenager-ness. But what did rub me wrong was that after the showdown, the first question he asks is about her bending! like seriously tenzin if a 16 yo girl was incapacitated by a whole gang of thugs that's not the first fear I'd have.

Elaborate? I thought he did a good job calming her down. Children's show = no discussion of rape/sexual assault, but I did feel Amon threatening to take her ~bending had creepy, sexual assault-y vibes to it. 'Taking someone's bending' itself is so problematic - it's a fundamental violation of someone, even if it is done by the Avatar to a war criminal like Ozai. Is it okay to away the bending of a criminal, as Amon did? Or is it only okay if it is done by the Avatar?

IDK why Toph is a cop, but I bet there's a hilarious backstory to it. OMG, also, HOW SO HOT, ALL OF THEM BUT ESPECIALLY AANG?

Well I do think that with the shift to the older pov and also the picking up of themes that are noticeably more complex than ATLA that we can't just say children's show anymore. And yeah taking away bending is a total violation and is being constructed like the death penalty in a way. You know, only being awarded to the worst of the worst offenders. And as with the death penalty the question of who gets to dole it out is problematic. I think we're gonna keep coming back to the Avatar-as-wielder-of-divine-right vs Avatar-as-really-big-stick

It's more... cutting off a hand or tongue, I think. A sort of punishment where you live while being permanently maimed. [Er, not that I was suggesting rape = maiming with the previous sexual violation analogy. It's just that Amon vs. Korra felt very sexually threatening, or perhaps it's just my dirtybadwrong mind.]

All this opening Korra's eyes about how privileged and clueless she is, again, is very very interesting with respect to the Avatar's divine right/responsibility. A non-bender cannot be the Avatar, because a non-bender does not have control over the elements. This is not a debate. The Equalists OTOH are bringing up precisely those questions about such divine right and natural abilities which are rational (and justified) and perhaps a product of their newfound 'modernity'... Ok this is not making sense, but you get what I mean?
