Funny, you'd think push is the easier option, but I think I instinctively pull open doors rather than push them. There's probably some psychological issue behind that.
See, I have just analysed the issue and have come to the following conclusion: I pull open doors, because when I push them open I let go of the handle and then the door comes back and hits me in the face. Also, if I push it open, it might hit the person standing on the other side in the face. So basically, it's a Strategy to Avoid Being Hit In The Face.
Around here, exterior doors are supposed to open towards the outside (pull to get in/push to get out) to make it simpler to exit a building in an emergency. Interior doors are supposed to open in line with the exit signs, for the same reason.
