and today's random question is...

Do you prefer to pull doors open or push doors open?

Push.

So I don't have to touch a handle 447,000 other people have touched. Ewwww...

I like to push too. I'm not sure why. Pulling is less fun, I think.

Pull.

Funny, you'd think push is the easier option, but I think I instinctively pull open doors rather than push them. There's probably some psychological issue behind that.

My instinct is always to push open doors (including the ones that read 'pull'). I wonder what the psychological issues are?

[identity profile] donnaimmaculata.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
See, I have just analysed the issue and have come to the following conclusion: I pull open doors, because when I push them open I let go of the handle and then the door comes back and hits me in the face. Also, if I push it open, it might hit the person standing on the other side in the face. So basically, it's a Strategy to Avoid Being Hit In The Face.

Pull, unless I'm carrying something.

I hate pulling. Particularly when I'm carrying something, which I usually always am!!

push. i'm lazy that way. i kinda just push through or ram through the door with my body more likely.

LOL! HI-5!

[identity profile] amy-119.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Push. Way more fun. :)

Exactly.

[identity profile] evilstorm.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Push, because I tend to just charge the door and slam it open with a shoulder.

Hee. I do that sometimes.

[identity profile] jaybee65.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Push, because I don't have to stop or slow down.

Yes, that's it, I think! Pulling means stopping. And it becomes particularly difficult when you're carrying things - which I almost always am.

I prefer to pull doors open; I naturally hold doors open for people, and it seems more natural when pulling them than pushing.

Around here, exterior doors are supposed to open towards the outside (pull to get in/push to get out) to make it simpler to exit a building in an emergency. Interior doors are supposed to open in line with the exit signs, for the same reason.

Though I have a liking for revolving doors.
