Today was a beautiful Sunday. I did not get a single bit of work done, but do I care? NO, because today was Seeker day and my computer screen pretty much exploded into unicorns and rainbows.
Wait, that didn't come out right.
UNICORNS AND RAINBOWS
I won't even pretend at this point that I don't have an OTP on this show - which is very odd, coming from me - or that I wasn't DYING to watch this episode ever since Queen B. let it slip that it would happen, but this is seriously beyond my wildest expectations.
HUGGING AND HANDHOLDING
GUYS, HUGGING AND HANDHOLDING. DECLARATIONS OF FEELINGS. BIRTHDAY PARTIES. KAHLAN ASKING CARA TO HAVE FUN. SHORT JOKES. GIRLFIGHTS. KAHLAN WANTING TO BE BROUGHT BACK BY CARA (AGAIN) AND CARA DECLARING THAT SHE IS NOT WORTHY AND KAHLAN BEING SUPPORTIVE AND LOVING EVEN WHEN CARA IS BEING A SILLY GOOF AND TAKING IT ALL BACK IN THE MORNING AFTER. EVIL MUMMIES. HUGGING AND HANDHOLDING.

LOOK AT THEIR FACES.

THEIR HANDS. *FLAILS*

reallyally. she has EVEN MOAR)
How is this show even real?
Afterwards, I watched Dr. Who - which I seem to be watching now? - and was even more charmed than the previous episode. Charmed is the word, because I know very little about the show's very intimidating canon except what I've gleaned off the flist and
netgirl_y2k's Morgana is a Time Lord story, but here I seem to be in love with the Doctor and Amy Pond, and also all the other awesome characters (spaceships! the Queen!). It even made me (temporarily) forget about Cara and Kahlan, WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING.
And now I must go eat dinner, because I forgot to eat earlier and now my stomach is making strange noises. BUT FLAIL WITH ME, FLIST. IT WAS A GREAT SUNDAY.
PS: Matt Smith reminds me a little bit of NPH. From some angles.
OH MY SHOW.

GOD, THIS SHOW.
(I don't blame you for not getting far. The pilot is... the pilot.)
(Kahlan is the PRETTIEST even in the pilot, however.)

Doctor Who!! Seriously, I think you're jumping in at a great time. I'm intimidated by the giant canon too but have really enjoyed watching the last four seasons and now they're kinda sorta starting over with a new writer in charge and new cast, so you should be fine.
And also like, if you were going to go back and look at other episodes from the last few years, the first ones I'd recommend would be other stand-alones or two-parters by this same guy, Steven Moffat: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances from season 1, The Girl in the Fireplace from season 2, Blink from season 3, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead from season 4. Other episodes are better for getting to know the companions (who are all awesome), but Moffat's plots are the bestest.

I know what you mean, though. Seeker plots are always lame (except very rarely), and S1, while wonderful, may not be sparkly enough when you have other things to watch. I marathoned it when everything else was on hiatus, so that helped. How far are you along?
Re. Who: I'm wary of watching shows from the middle, so in a way I'm glad I jumped in when there's a new cast and new writer. There's clearly some re-introduction going on here, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. If I eventually watch the rest of the show, I'll try to watch right from the beginning of the 2005 series, at least (if not earlier, but that might be difficult to access).
This was a really good ep, though. It pinged me in all the right places. I loved Liz X, although I wonder how she is going to fix her kingdom now.

But 1.13 'Revenant' is pretty good.
