Narcissistic and mean

Intimidating young people should not be as much fun as it is, but I can't seem to help myself. Today I took great pleasure in traumatizing - smiling beatifically all the while, I should add - a poor young man barely out of his teens who, apparently, had been forced to chat me up on a dare. Perhaps it should have been kinder not to mention what I do for a living, but his expression after 'Which college are you in?' was just too good to pass up on.

It was just the kind of entertainment I needed after last night's blackout trauma, some sort of a power grid failure that led to mass power outage in eight states.

Some fan fiction I have been reading (and you might want to read too):

A Long Engagement, or the Improvement of Human Reason, as illustrated in the long and tortuous courtship of Edward Bennet, squire, and Philadelphia, Lady Darcy by hl and tulina, genderbent Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy: I seldom read genderbending fic - not really a narrative kink of mine - so trust me when I say this is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Edward Bennet is a puppy, with all of Elizabeth's delightful vivacity and obliviousness, and I did not know how much I needed Lady Darcy in my life (played, in my head, by a younger Tilda Swinton) until I read this. I just want to draw hearts around this story and shower it with sparkles. ♥ PS: it's also long.

Between by quigonejinn, Zuko, Ursa, post-canon: And this is just heartbreakingly beautiful, and made me tear up. The second person outsider POV is simply fantastic.

Years When Something Whispered by ferricent, Jinora, Lin Beifong, AU: I don't have words for how much I love this AU take on canon. Jinora is my favourite airbender kid, and somehow Lin being her mother makes perfect sense. I want to read more fan fiction where Jinora is Lin's daughter. Cater to me, fandom!

I also cracked and read World's Finest #1 and okay, I give. I miss my Huntress, but the banter! The friendship! The backstory! I guess I will have to read more of this title now.

Um, this is a little awkward, but--I've been following you for recs (and LOK meta!), and these are excellent ones. The first story, though, was written by two friends of mine; the co-writer is tulina.

Definitely not too much! I've been pretty much scouring the Internet for meta--all the art and gifs and everything are lovely, but it's ridiculously hard to find (gen!) discussions, so I was very glad to find your journal. :)
anghraine: obi-wan in anh, frightening the sand people; text: damn you kids! get off my lawn! (obi-wan [off my lawn])

Yes! I'm really enjoying it for the images, but for discussion the search function is bizarre and conversation seems to mostly happen among little pods of personal friends and is all tangled up with the art and ... I guess I'm a bit "kids these days!" about it, especially since LOK fandom seems to pretty much live there. It is nice to see so much gorgeous art, though--that's not really much of a thing in Austen fandom.
