The comfort fics meme. Gacked from
scribbulus_ink.
In your journal, rec a story that you re-read for comfort when you need to feel better because it gives you warm fuzzies, a story you read recently that was scorchingly hot, and a long story that you re-read because you can lose yourself in it. It can be any pairing, any rating, any fandom.
I could not follow the guidelines entirely, because… ONE FIC?

Together, they make quite a combination. *g* Sweet, in an aching, non-sugary kind of way – just the way I prefer.

This fic is insane. There's no other word for it. And can't say anymore, because I'm howling with laughter again.
Operations turned to Madeline with a look of annoyance. "Why did you let them go like that? I wanted them punished in some vile, humiliating, unspeakable manner!"
"Occasionally," she answered with a mysterious smile, "we have to let them off the hook for no reason whatsoever. That way we appear arbitrary and omnipotent."

Okay, the Hermione characterisation here? Doesn't work for me. At all. And yet I will read this fic again and again, because it's that good (and Hermione is my favourite female character). Ron/Pansy

OMG Snape! Just listen to him:In retrospect, he would see that the relatively calm start of term had been an ominous portent, an ugly harbinger of the disastrous events to come. At the time, however, it seemed merely par for the course: half of the Slytherin first years caught an airborne hex and he spent three nights cleaning vomit off mewling eleven-year-olds, taught the standard 32 hour Potions courseload, agreed (as though he had a choice in the matter) to continue making Lupin’s Wolfsbane and thus signed away six hours a month to a very complicated, expensive, and malodorous potion, met with Dumbledore every two weeks to discuss current events and fabricate more or less believable intelligence, attended a superlatively unpleasant Death Eater meeting, coached the interhouse chess league, acted as faculty advisor for the Future Potionmakers of England, kept the dungeons clear of more than a cosmetic supply of rats, spiders, and cockroaches, served as a consultant for the Ministry Department of Poison Control, and, of course, devoted several hours a week to thinking of ways to subtly convince Draco Malfoy not to bugger off and join Voldemort’s forces.
Snape/Lupin.
I'm too new to reading BtVS fics to actually have any comfort fic, but this fic – 'Coastal', by
minim_calibre, comes pretty close. Buffy/Faith, post-Chosen, AU. Hopeful without being OOC.
Hottest fic: that’s a bit difficult to say, because I can’t recall the last time I read comfort smut (not that much of smut fan, really). I think I’ll just mention this fic: Destinatation Unknown, by Yahtzee, which was simply *beautiful* amd hot in it’s own quiet way. Buffy/Giles.
Long stories: Let me see. Gen's 'Restoration', Jaybee's 'Intersections', delle's 'Temporary Heroes', Nell's 'Mrs.Sam', Betsy's 'As Wind is to Fire'... that's enough, I think. *g*
'Stealing Harry'. 'Transfigurations'. 'Bloody Stare of Mars'.
I will re-read Jintian's 'Theurgy' again, definitely. And Yahtzee's 'Phoenix Burning'.
Aaand, of course, for a laugh: Every Fanfic Ever Written!
I like this meme. Everyone needs a little comforting these days.
