Fandom in 2012
Dec. 22nd, 2012 10:55 pmYour main fandom of the year?
A main fandom? I haven't had that in a while now, but I suppose the honours go to Avatar/Legend of Korra and Warehouse 13 in terms of time most spent in, with DCU and Legend of the Seeker (yes, always) as honourable mention.
Your favorite tv show of the year?
It's a tie between Warehouse 13 and The Good Wife (again, always), followed by Legend of Korra. Had I watched OUAT all throughout the year, it would have been a part of this list, too.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
ff.net and AO3 - a rediscovery. The Importance of LJ Conversations, because I miss them.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Legend of Korra finale. My issues with it are well-documented, and while there are things that I enjoyed about it, it will be my eternal regret that they went from 'Turning the Tides' to that. The second biggest disappointment is of course the Batbooks post-reboot. I miss my Batfamily. I miss them. I think Scott Snyder, despite his best efforts, was better in that stellar 'Tec run. I think Gail Simone was just beginning to hit the right notes in BoP. I think Batgirl had it in itself to give many, many issues full of unadulterated JOY.
Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
I was going to say Batman, but I don't WANT him to be my fandom boyfriend of the year so I will go with Sokka and comics!Hawkeye (Fraction-Aja Hawkeye, that is).
Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Lin. HG. Alicia. Kalinda. Myka. Diana, as written by Brian Azzarello. Diane Lockhart.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Legend of Korra, episode 1.10. If by squee moment you mean rip my heart out and shred it into tiny pieces moment.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
Merlin. I met some of the best people I've *ever* met in that fandom, and I still have a lot of feelings for the characters on that show. It's just the show I have difficulty watching now, and I miss that engagement (one day,
tanndell and I will sit down and watch S5. with copious amounts of alcohol and cursing).
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I'm going to watch Borgen at some point. Also Elementary. I will also read Captain Marvel at some point.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
Warehouse 13 4.5 and the wrapping up of Artie's story, as well as the dangling HG plotlines; The Good Wife, which never fails to please; OUAT S2, which I'm oddly excited for now. More Korra, whenever that comes. Avatar: The Search, because AZULA.
