Date: 2012-10-10 03:22 pm (UTC)It was all a bit of fun: a party at a posh Gotham club (Donna only came because Dick asked), Gotham tabloids over-reacting as usual, a couple of 'comprising' photographs that provided a lot of amusement during JLA downtime (and criticism from Donna, because she takes this stuff seriously). And okay, maybe Tim shouldn't have trolled the journalists with his non-committal 'hmm' to their question about Dick and Donna's secret marriage. But the point is that it was never meant to be anything but that, but then Hippolyta finds out.
First Dick is mistaken as Batman Batman, and that is an Issue. The revelation that he's actually Batman's son aka the Other Batman makes things only slightly better, because he's still, well, related to Batman and he and the Amazons do not see eye to eye.
Then he gets the speech. About babies. Do you know how NERVE-WRACKING it is to be lectured about babies by Queen Hippolyta? He doesn't get a word in edgewise.
At this point, thankfully, Diana intervenes, and they all laugh awkwardly about it, and later Donna explains why she doesn't really spend a lot of time in the island. ("See? See?")
If Dick is being perfectly honest, though - and he's thought about this a lot - he could do a lot worse than marrying Donna Troy.
