Your favourite fandom of the year?
Obscure facts about the 19th century.
I kid, I kid. Even though the aforementioned 'fandom' TOOK OVER MY LIFE for the first eight months of the year, and left me without words for anything else until freaking December, my favourite fandom was hands down Legend of the Seeker. I don't have words for the joy it brought to me in those dark, dark days. The fandom itself is shiny, and I've met a lot of lovely people who make my fannish experience brighter and sparklier. This about sums it up:

SO MUCH FUN.
Your favorite film watched this year?
The respectable answer? Love, Sex aur Dhokha
The I-don't-care-what-you-say-it's-crass-and-I-loved-it-and-even-managed-to-overcome-my-distaste-towards-the-lead answer? Dabangg
There are a couple movies I’m looking forward to as well (the silly one; the not-so-silly one).
I didn't watch enough new English-language movies this year to have a favourite in that sense, although I enjoyed the hell outta HP7 Pt 1.
Your favorite book read this year?
I mostly read a bunch of study-related books this year, including some very interesting ones like what was probably the earliest autobiography written by a Bengali woman, at a time when very few women were literate (she taught herself to read in secret), and a charming little travelogue/autobiography of an Englishwoman in India. That said, favourite read this year is Sarah Waters’ Fingersmith, because damn. Hits each and every one of my buttons, that one.
Favourite non-fiction would probably be this adorable little book by Samanth Subramanian, called Following Fish, which is exactly what it sounds like – a book about fish. The author travels to the coastal states (although he leaves out one, and misses out on some great fish, IMO), eats a lot of fish and meets a lot of people who catch fish, who prepare fish for other people to eat and who eat fish. And look, it starts with a chapter on Hilsa, okay? The author gets that Hilsa is not just a fish, it’s a cultural artefact. Yes, laugh away, the three Indians on my flist – I conform to every stereotype and defy your mockery of them.
Favourite comic book: this was really hard to pick, but I think I’ll go with Greg Rucka’s run of Wonder Woman. Again, hits every one of my buttons. Also, this:

She blinds herself to fight Medusa. If that’s not the definition of heroic, I don’t know what is (dcwomenkickingass had a great post on the episode).
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
I'll pick two, Amit Trivedi's Udaan OST and Debjyoti Mishra's Autograph OST (although I'm pretty sick of the most popular song, which is now overplayed to the point where I have to cover my ears every time I hear it).
Your favorite TV show of the year?
Legend of the Seeker and Fringe. Don’t make me pick.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Tumblr, and comics fandom on it. Also, Kahlan and Cara and Olivia Dunham.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
1. Cancellation of Seeker. I will NEVER shut up about it.
2. Merlin S3, but we’re not talking about it. And Morgana is still my favourite.
3. House fandom crossing the breaking point in terms of misogyny/character bashing/general negativity. My enjoyment of the show at this point is independent of the fandom at large, and I'm glad for it.
Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Dick Grayson. He's not ashamed to be a wimpy Batman, he smiles and cracks jokes and takes care of baaaby Damian, he's okay with Babs being in a lifelong romance with Dinah, he knows how to bend... It's not even a competition.
Not to mention the most famous behind in the DCU.
Also, Agent Broyles in any universe (but especially the black tank tops, oh my).
Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Olivia Dunham, Cara, Kahlan, Huntress and Barbara Gordon in any avatar. Look I can’t pick okay.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
1. Cara and Kahlan. LOCKED IN A TOMB.
2. Fringe S2 Finale
3. Oh, about every scene with Olivia in Fringe S3
4. The return of the Birds of Prey.

I mean, of course Huntress would be the one to break first, and of course Dinah would be the one doing the comforting while Babs tries to divert the topic to something else altogether. Babs has always had the Bats, Dinah has always had the Arrows, but Helena only has the Birds, and now they’re back together. ♥
The most missed of your old fandoms?
I kind of miss being more fannish about House, but you know it’s time to step back when a fandom is affecting your enjoyment of the show (that has lost its spark to begin with, and requires far lower expectations going in). So I kind of miss the heydays, but you know, not the negativity or the endless bashing of anyone who isn’t a white dude.
I do miss the sparkly joy of squeeing after every new Seeker.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
OLIVIA DUNHAM. THE DEATH OF ORACLE AND THE YEAR OF THE HUNTRESS. BATWOMAN.
