Yuletide Recs I

Whole New World: Genie always comes back to Al. One of the best stories I've read this year, period. It takes someone like Genie - *Genie*! - and transforms him into a three dimensional character and makes you cry. No, really. This is why I love Yuletide, because I know I never dreamt that one day I'd be tearing up over a story about Genie.
The Devil Wears Prada
Her Rightful Place: This is a story about Emily, post-movie. Wonderful characterization here - I love especially the glimpses into Emily's life, her cat and the fact that he is an important plot point. *g*
Discworld
The Uninvited Guest: Death isn't cut out to be a good godparent. So he recruits Granny Weatherwax for the cause. Death, Granny, Susan - the story actually lives up to the awesomeness of the combination.
Six Things You Never Knew About the Discworld (Or Maybe You Did): Hilarious!
xkcd
The Amazing Adventures of Hat Guy and the Girl Who Stole His Hat: It's xkcd! What more do you want?
Fairy Tales
Fire, Measured By What Doesn't Burn: The twelve dancing princesses in a way you've never read them before.
Mythology (Greek and Roman)
this is not a chick flick: In which Hades awkwardly tries to woo Persephone to his side, while the Olympian gods offer unhelpful advice and prove they know nothing about love. Adorable, adorable story. *g*
Small Step for Man: Apollo/Artemis. Apollo and Artemis over the ages. This is dark and wonderful.
