swatkat: (the good wife: kalinda wins)
Sometimes I want to write an open letter to academics who want to get their stuff published. It would consist of one line: "GET YOUR REFERENCES AND CITATIONS RIGHT YOU @%!%!#%#% IDIOTS."

Why did I think this would be a 'light' summer project again? At least it's mostly over. /editorial angst

After much resistance, my sister finally stared watching The Good Wife and was immediately hooked (as is obvious; I don't know why she even bothers protesting, I've never seen her not enjoy anything I enjoy). She's been marathoning the show, and I've been watching it along with her - we're up to 2.04 now, and I still love it the second time round. My sister has also become a Will Fangirl and a staunch Will/Alicia shipper, and has been saying things like, spoilers )

I also think it's great news that Lisa E will be showing up in TGW next season, although I fear for my sanity if her crazed fangirls/detractors who think she's the Second Coming/the Devil Herself show up and start wanking again. Perhaps it's a good thing I'm not very fannish about TGW - I couldn't take another round of that.

PS: A Hundred Storms by [personal profile] abvj, A guide to understanding Kalinda Sharma in five parts (as if it were really that simple). Part one: Kalinda never makes the same mistake twice. A gorgeous look at Kalinda that will make your heart ache. Spoilers for all of S2.

I finally finished Dr Thirteen: Architecture and Morality by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang, featuring the adventures of Dr. Terry Thirteen and Traci Thirteen (yes, Jaime's adorable girlfriend Traci Thirteen), and also a vampire, a Nazi gorilla, a pirate with a flying ship, a neanderthal, a former Legioner called Infectious Lass (who, unfortunately, was demoted to the Legion of Substitute Heroes), an Yeti, the ghost of a general from the American Civil War and a tiny little boy who knows everything. It's a funny little series - quirky and charming, with a very meta Terry Pratchett-esque theme; it plot gets a little convoluted in the end, but it's enjoyable overall and the first three or four issues are pure genius. If Azzarello manages to balance his grimdark with this sense of humour, Wonder Woman is in good hands. (Although, to be honest, anything would be better than Odyssey. And unlike Don Kramer and his many fill-in artists, Cliff Chiang knows how to draw faces.)

I also read Gates of Gotham #2, and god, I can't believe they're changing this to make Bruce Damian's Batman. The Batkids, solving mysteries and fighting crime - it's pretty much all I ask from my Batcomics. I can't believe they'll bench Cass again, she's x100 better as Batman than Bruce is, dammit.
