I haven't seen Walk the Line *or* Transamerica yet (both will be DVD rentals), but just from what clips I've seen of both, Felicity had the more challenging part.

I'm impressed with George Clooney more and more each day. He's got some brains and a sense of humor and some principles in addition to the pretty face. When he said he was proud to be "out of touch" with mainstream America, I cheered.

But Crash? I suffered through that movie, and it was like a painfully earnest Afterschool Special. Blecccccch.

I haven't seen *any* of them, though the clips kind of made me want to see BBM, of all movies. What I gather from the reviews, Felicity had the more challenging part but Reese stole the show with her energy in the movie. Oh well.

I've heard it suggested that a little bit of ageism may have reared its head, too. And actually, references to "energy" *do* kind of strike me as a coded way of saying just that. Or then again -- and equally bad -- it might have been an "Oh, enough with the gay already!" reaction, especially given that the Best Actor nod went to someone who played a gay man. Or it might simply be individual politics -- Felicity has won a lot of recognition for Housewives recently, and they might simply be tired of giving her awards for the moment. All these things come into play.
