Sep. 29th, 2008 10:57 amI am in a holiday mood. I don't feel like working at all. Next Saturday, I get to go home for a week. WHY IS IT NOT SATURDAY ALREADY?
I haven't spoken very much about real life lately, even though it has been taking up so much of my time and energy (or perhaps because of it?). It's been one of those strange, transitional years, the best of times and the worst of times. More of the latter in the past couple of months or so, what with all the stress and tension and people dying and other unspeakable things happening - as though the PTB have been trying to tell me, "Yes, this, this is what adulthood is really like. Growing up is hard and you better get used to it." Heh. And as often happens in times of stress, you forget to celebrate the nicer things that have been happening to you, so I will take this opportunity to talk about them here.
#1. I have a shiny new job. Which pays well, has a nice work environment and nice colleagues and UNBLOCKED UNLIMITED INTERNETS!!!!!
#2. I also managed to make it through a very tiresome nationwide entrance test and a not-so-tiresome interview (because, well, it was conducted by my own professors, who smiled at us and cracked jokes and made us comfortable) and enrolled myself in the two year M.Phil programme in my former university. I did it because I'm seriously considering applying for a Ph.D next year, and this way, I don't get out of touch with academics (and my professors) altogether. The best part, though, is that my bestest friends are here as well, thinking along similar lines, trying to juggle two things at once, and that's what really makes me happy. They've been my rock in the past couple of months and put up with all my whining and moping, and god, if they hadn't been here, I would have probably chucked all this and packed my bags and left the playground for good.
#3. I met a real live fangirl. This is an awesome thing, because it has never happened to me before, and I love to be able to send a text like "brOTP forever!!!" while watching a movie to someone other than the Sister.
#4. I GET TO GO HOME FOR A WEEK ON SATURDAY
So, life has been horrible and stressful, but life has also been shiny and awesome, and I should stop complaining now and focus on the shiny instead of the horrible. Why, I feel positively bouncy even as we speak! YAY! \0/

Date: 2008-09-29 11:14 am (UTC)I'm not sure if I'll stay on here for more than a year (or even less!), because I have other plans that might include a lot of shuttling between home and here, but I plan to make the best of it while I am here.

Oh, and I meant to cheer for the fangirl meeting too -- yay, fun!
