Oct. 16th, 2008 10:10 amI think my screen just exploded into unicorns and rainbows.
I'm sorry, I have no coherent meta for this episode—just pure, unadulterated LOVE.
* House and Wilson, oh my god! How true and deep is their love? I'm pretty sure all of House's dad's colleagues think of them as a couple now.
* WILSON!!!!!!!! He was just so FABULOUS in this episode. ♥ See, I've never been very heartbroken about the House/Wilson break-up, because it all played out like a romantic comedy in my head where House fought for his man and wooed him back in the end. AND NOW IT'S BEEN PROVEN TRUE IN CANON, BECAUSE WHAT ELSE WAS THE ROADTRIP ABOUT BUT HOUSE PROVING TO WILSON HOW MUCH WILSON WUVS HIM BY BEING EXTREMELY ANNOYING?
* CUDDY! INJECTIONS! DRUGGING! House and Cuddy now have matching injection scenes, bwahaha! And how much do you love the fact drugging is an expression of true love in this universe?
* I'm also very, very pleased about the Cuddy/Wilson working in tandem thing. What was that talk about Wilson hating Cuddy again?
* FOREMAN! I loved how he took charge of the D2. AND THEN HE WENT AND CHATTED WITH CHASE AND CAMERON. Words cannot express my love for the Ducklings. ♥♥♥
* I wonder if fandom will start hating Kutner now that he too has projected his issues on a patient.
* Dancing Queen!
* I don't think House and Wilson is all resolved now, or it's all reset as in the Tritter arc.
* Did I mention the unicorns and rainbows?

I mean, I knew that they'd be back together eventually, because House and Wilson are yen and yang.

Date: 2008-10-16 05:28 am (UTC)LOOOOOOOOVE. THEY'RE TOTALLY AND HOPELESSLY IN LOVE. And yeah, I'm pretty sure they just outed themselves to half the Marine Corps brass of Kentucky.
WILSON!!!!!!!! He was just so FABULOUS in this episode.
INORITE? THAT was the Wilson I've been missing since season two (though we got a little of him in "Alone" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy") - the unashamedly manipulative bastard who's just as much of a jerk as House, but looks so harmless. I knew from the moment House woke up in the car that Wilson was behind this round of dosing. I've never cheered him on more than during that fight in the funeral home. Because YES. Wilson's got a temper lurking under that sweet, placid exterior. And really, how much do I love that it was Wilson who was in jail, and House bailed him out because "out of 300 people at that convention, you were the only one who wasn't boring".
And how much do you love the fact drugging is an expression of true love in this universe?
I totally shrieked. "SHE DOSED HIM!" And then - "OMG WILSON DOSED HIM BY PROXY!"
What was that talk about Wilson hating Cuddy again?
. . . lies. All lies. Pfft - he never hated Cuddy. He was pissed at House and the entire situation, and took it out on her.
I wonder if fandom will start hating Kutner now that he too has projected his issues on a patient.
No. Because Kutner is smart and capable and someone whom I respect. I like this human side to him, and I want to see more of it. And if that makes me hypocritical - because I cannot stand when Cam and Thirteen do it - I can't say that I care.
Dancing Queen!
I like it, but I honestly hope it's "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Or possibly, Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" if I'm going to be totally cracktastic about it.

The poor officers. I'm sure they went back home shaking their heads, muttering about how they finally realised why John House didn't get along very well with his son.
I knew from the moment House woke up in the car that Wilson was behind this round of dosing.
YES. It was a classic instance of Wilson/Cuddy co-ordination. Wilson plans, Cuddy executes. (Wilson is Cuddy's Cuddy. Hee.)
Along with the squee, though, some questions: how much of a reset is this? Is this Tritter all over again? I have to watch the episode again before I can figure it out. And probably wait to see how things happen.
Pfft - he never hated Cuddy. He was pissed at House and the entire situation, and took it out on her.
SEE, I KNEW THAT, BUT COULD YOU KINDLY EXPLAIN THAT TO FANDOM? THE 'GO TO HELL' THING WAS SO AWESOME AND PERFECT, AND FANDOM HAD TO SPOIL THAT BY COMPLAINING.
No. Because Kutner is smart and capable and someone whom I respect. I like this human side to him, and I want to see more of it. And if that makes me hypocritical - because I cannot stand when Cam and Thirteen do it - I can't say that I care.
I'm not really trying to call you hypocritical - please forgive me if I come across that way - but you do see the double standards, right? Because both Thirteen and Cameron are also smart and capable. They were in this very episode. ('Bubbles'. The Duckling DDX.)

Date: 2008-10-16 05:56 am (UTC)Oh yes, that was the only way I knew it was Kentucky. I thought it was Massachusetts, from just the mention of "Lexington", but according to St. Doris, it's KY.
Along with the squee, though, some questions: how much of a reset is this? Is this Tritter all over again?
I think it's definitely a reset, but on two levels. I think it's a reset to House and Wilson personally, first. They've both gone through losses, and had their friendship tested, and are closer because of it. It could be pre-Tritter, or it could even be S2-level closeness (I'm thinking specifically of the shacking-up arc, or "All In"). Professionally, I'm not sure how well they'll work together, when Wilson's had time away from House's special brand of crazy (which he admits, he does love). There's also Lucas to consider - House hired a PI to follow Wilson and you KNOW Wilson's going to find out.
What exactly do you mean when you say "is this Tritter all over again?"?
SEE, I KNEW THAT, BUT COULD YOU KINDLY EXPLAIN THAT TO FANDOM?
If I thought I could cut through the batshittery and wank, I would.
I'm not really trying to call you hypocritical - please forgive me if I come across that way - but you do see the double standards, right?
Oh, I see the double-standards, and that's why I admitted being a bit of a hypocrite. But it has more to do with my feelings toward the characters, really. I don't like Cam. I've never liked Cam. She's tolerable in certain scenes/episodes, but on the whole, I find her grating. So when she projects onto her patients, I just want to throw something at her. In contrast, I'm very hot and cold on Thirteen. I didn't like her for most of S4, "Wilson's Heart" and her feelings toward Amber being the exception. I like her more this season, especially when she projected herself onto the girl in "Not Cancer" - it seemed extremely logical for her to deal with her diagnosis by wanting to empower another woman who might be dying. She was spot-on, in that respect, so I didn't mind the projecting. Kutner, I adore. I think he's adorkable and funny and probably the most Houselike of the New Ducklings. We see so little of his personal life and quirks that I love when we get scenes like this week's. I'd say the same thing about Taub in "Don't Ever Change" and "Adverse Effects" - the character development is worth the projection.

Date: 2008-10-16 07:24 am (UTC)Well, the Tritter arc was all about MAJOR THINGS HAPPENING and the characters learning NOTHING from it. The arc had no fallout. It was: 'Nothing's changed?'; 'Nothing's changed.' And House and Wilson were suddenly shiny and happy again. This is the reset I'm worried about. Will there be fallout? There has to be fallout now, right? The PI is still around, after all.
Oh, I see the double-standards, and that's why I admitted being a bit of a hypocrite. But it has more to do with my feelings toward the characters, really.
I know, I know. And you're providing coherent reasons for it, too. But there's a pattern at work out there in fandom at large, where 'male character projecting and ensuing angst' = AWESOMECAKES and 'female character projecting and ensuing angst' = OMG she's such a whiny weakling, won't someone get her off my screen? House identifying with, say, the guy in 97 Seconds? Awesome. Cuddy with Emma? Ohsoweak. Same for Cameron. Thirteen. And if you look around, it's not just in this fandom - it's the same with every fandom (except, probably, BSG). If every female character in every show and every book is uniformly whiny and weak, then there is, indeed, a problem.

Seriously, though, I was complaining about the double standards in fandom about characters projecting their issues onto patients. When Taub and Kutner do it, it's character development. When Thirteen does it? WHINY UNPROFESSIONAL BITCH OMG
