Wow, Americans, thank you for brightening my day. You guys are never going to stop talking about him now, are you? *g*

It's interesting to watch this from the outside, and see all this enthusiasm, this hope piled upon just one man... It's a bit insane, from my outsider's perspective, mostly because it's something that does.not.happen in our weird federal parliamentary thingy. Insane, and good.

It is also because a majority of the people standing for election in our Federal Parliamentary thingy are illiterate buffons, who have no background in politics, but in thuggery case in point Shibu Soren, Arun Gawli, If we can elect murderers to office, how can we have hope? [/bitter]

I'm not sure literacy *can* be a criteria in our country, but I see your point. :\

I think that is the correct word, hope.

Everyone wants/needs a change here and he represents that eternal optimism this country is known for. I stood in line myself for an hour and a half last Saturday to vote early and the line was still wrapped around the building when I finally left after 6pm. What really got me was how peaceful it was with no political arguing and it was a mix of families, singles, friends, neighbours, everyone. It was great because in all my voting years starting in 1976, I have never seen such hopeful faces and such involvement.

Here is hoping it lasts, we have a LOT of work to do.

*sheep*

We're a little bit obsessed with our new Pres. But honestly, after the last eight years can you blame us? *g*

I do feel a little.. not "bad" for him, per say, but. He does have a huge burden to carry, and I think a lot of people are expecting far more from him than he can realistically provide. But, no matter. Definitely have the hope.
