No Second Troy
WHY should I blame her that she filled my days
With misery, or that she would of late
Have taught to ignorant men most violent ways,
Or hurled the little streets upon the great,
Had they but courage equal to desire?
What could have made her peaceful with a mind
That nobleness made simple as a fire,
With beauty like a tightened bow, a kind
That is not natural in an age like this,
Being high and solitary and most stern?
Why, what could she have done being what she is?
Was there another Troy for her to burn?
-- W.B. Yeats
Why, what could she have done being what she is?-this line reminds me of Faith (and Madeline, and Nikita, and Lady Macbeth, and all the other strong women characters I'm so in love with). Yes, can you tell that I'm a wee bit obsessed by this girl? I do, however, refuse to read *anything* in this fandom without recommendations. I've had my fair share of crap in my early days at ff.net, and then in LFN - I'm not sure I could take any more of that. BtVS doesn't seem to have an organised recs structure like we have in HP, which is making things a little difficult. *sigh*
