Someone tell the Platypus to shut up. It's not enough that she lives next door and sits next to me at work, but now she has to yammer on and on about nonsense all day, too.

I just had a very satisfactory moment imagining her lips sealed up with cellotape and her hands tied behind her back.

The temperature dropped suddenly in the past couple of days, and now we're in that stage of New Delhi cold that makes us tropical types cry and want to go home. It's not as though I don't enjoy winter here, I do, the cold and the wind notwithstanding, but it's not the same. The soil is not dark enough and the trees are not green enough (and irritatingly bare in winter) and the sky is a different shade of blue. The sun merely deigns to show up every morning, and while it doesn't burn and kill like it does in summer, it doesn't caress your skin either, like it should in winter. And the worst part is the air, which doesn't smell of holiday and winter and everything that comes with it.

Ok, I'll bite. The Platypus?

(it's lovely here -- around 20C and not aiming to go above 25 for the next week. heavenly! ;)

Um, I'm afraid it's a rather mean nickname for a certain person who I don't particularly like on most days (and grudgingly put up with on other, and like very rarely) but cannot get rid of, ever. The more I try to get away from her, the more time I have to spend with her! It's as though the universe has conspired against me. *heddesk*

Parents report that the weather back home is hovering around similar temperatures. Twelve more days to go...

Whether you like the weather or not, your description of it is lovely.

Twelve days to what?

I would tell her for you, but I honestly don't think she'd pay much attention to a random email from some random chick in the U.S. :/

LOLZ, vindictive. I ♥ you.

We have snow at home! And I'll probably miss it :( Because I'm still stuck at Uni. You as well, I take it? Freedom is so close!

I like and don't like the weather. I enjoy the cold in a strange, masochistic way but I miss the pleasant winter back home and everything that comes with it, the sun, the sky, the picnics and the smell of oranges, the sweets...

Twelves days until I go home. Eleven, now. Only for a week, but still.

Oh, she'd pay too much attention! And then she'd never stop talking about it.

She brings out the vindictiveness in me.

I'm stuck at uni, for no good reason except that I have work. Why am I doing this stupid job again? What is the point of working if I can't go home?

And I see from your next post that you are still having issues with her. I hear your pain, and I sigh for you in sympathy.

I'm sorry :( That's no fun. Where do you work? Do at least like your job, Platty aside?

I think I'm destined to FOREVER have issues with her. That's the way it is. The universe has decided upon it.

I work for a publishing house. They're a big name publishing house publishing academic books and journals, and the work is mostly enjoyable (even though you have to boggle at the *crap* that is published everyday). I like the idea of having a hand in the shaping of book, you know? The colleagues are mostly a fun bunch, Platty and She Who Must Not Be Named and Blockhead notwithstanding. It's good experience for me, and even if I don't stay here for very long (I do, in fact, have plans to quit in January, and concentrate more on academics), I'll cherish the things I've learnt here.

LOL. You *do* know that platypuses are very cute things, right? Although, being the only venomous mammal, perhaps you have a point. ;)

Counting down the days with you...

They are, but this has, um, a mean connotation. And they're venomous? Okay, I did not know that, but this certainly fits dear Platypus who can be venomous on occasions even though she is mostly harmless.

Well, it's really only the males, which have a poisonous hind spur. Their venom *is* said to be extremely painful. ;)

Hmm. I wouldn't call the venom *very* painful, only deeply annoying. This must be Special Female Platypus Venom.

Lame, Universe. Real lame.

I feel like I knew that. Somehow. I have a very short memory. FAIL. That's so cool, though! It sounds like a wonderful job. ♥
