Look at this!

Just LOOK at this! Malory Towers Slash. Bill/Clarissa.
Hear that breaking noise? That was my childhood.
Not to diss the fic, though. It was quite sweet and well-written, not to mention plausible. I could not, however, make myself read the sex. Augh!
For those of you don't know, Malory Towers was a series of children's books about a boarding school for girls, written by the British author Enid Blyton. I adored them, and pretty much everything else written by her while growing up.

Date: 2004-11-04 01:54 pm (UTC)But really, all those classic boarding school series scream for slash fiction, don't they?
Yes! Immediately after I read this, I started imagining what it be like to have Darrell/Alicia. Or Alicia/Gwen. Which is very disconcerting.
Long before I knew about slash - even before I really knew about sex - I used to re-enact the stories together with my cousin, spicing them up with some raunchy pre-pubescent sex fantasies.
My friends and I were mostly into re-enacting the Famous Five. Julian and George were so totally dating.

Date: 2004-11-04 02:13 pm (UTC)It wasn't Malory Towers that I used to read, btw, but St. Clares. I only know the German translations, so I'm wobbly on the titles.

Date: 2004-11-04 02:26 pm (UTC)No, it was always the Famous Five for us. I wanted to own an island, you see. Still do, actually. *g*
I remember how, after reading one of the stories, we dressed up in grown-ups' clothes, painted wrinkles around our eyes with eyeliner and stalked around the neighbourhood, convinced to be able to pass as adults. Because Fatty would always get away with it, too.)
LOL!

Ah, St.Clares. That would be the stories with Pat and Isabel, the twin sisters. I still own all the books in that series. *g*

Date: 2004-11-04 12:24 pm (UTC)I once stumbled onto a Mallory Towers LJ community, in which all the posters spoke to each other in Mallory-speak, even when flaming or rebuking a troll. It was fabulous, and I think I'll go now and try to find it again. *g*
The story was quite sweet, btw.

The story was quite sweet, btw.
Yes! It was lovely! And now I'm imagining what it would be like to read Alicia/Gwendoline Mary. *facepalm*
