oh noes discord
Nov. 17th, 2010 09:12 amCalling a man a moron =/= calling a woman, yes, even a villain, a 'slut' (and making rude graphics about it); freedom of speech also my freedom to call you on your offensive slurs ("People aren’t calling her a "Bitch" or "slut" just out of spite. She is. If one thinks it's a bad word, then good for them, don’t use it. Nothing (or no one) is stopping me from doing it tho."); pointing that out is not bringing about ~discord in 'our we love everybody fandom'; no, 'loving' one female character doesn't give you brownie points that somehow cancel out the slurs; no, this isn't about one character vs. another, and don't you dare lecture me about 'loving' Olivia Dunham.
Sigh. Fringe fandom on Tumblr - which, unfortunately, is way more active than fandom on LJ/DW - is occasionally quite horrible. I should know better than to engage, but it gets on my nerves. Way to ruin my morning. *facepalm* [Maybe I will post about 3.06 after I get back from the gym.]
