( embedded trailer under cut )
I don't know how I feel about the CGI - why not just opt for hand-drawn animation? Cartoon Network did a fantastic job with it, although they edited out everything involving Captain Haddock and alcohol (which, what; one of the finest scenes EVER in Tintin is when a drunk Haddock - after having smuggled alcohol aboard the moon rocket - decides that he's going home). But Spielberg! Peter Jackson! Stephen Moffat! This could either be very good or very bad.
Also, I'm told this is a mash-up of The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure -- which is a lot to fit in, actually. But I suppose they couldn't just resist the first meeting between the Captain and Tintin. ♥
I wonder what they will do with the racism. It has been so long since I read the books, I wonder how I would respond to a lot of things in them now. There were a lot of things going on those books that completely flew over my head as a child, or did not seem important.
