First things first. If you haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] lfn_slash already, please go now. *pimps*

Fics I've been reading and you should read too. Mostly for [livejournal.com profile] msgenevieve and [livejournal.com profile] mommysusan, but others are welcome to look too. Mind, the fics aren't either new or obscure, so it's possible that you may have read it already.

The Way, Way Back by Liz Estrada

Begin with the best, yes? This story broke my heart in so many ways. A perfect first person Faith voice, and a premise that could make TPTB jealous. Faith/Kate

One of the things I enjoy most about fanfic is the way authors can build up a relationship from scratch and actually make it *work*, and this fic is a perfect example of that. IIRC, Faith and Kate share the screen *once*, for about two minutes, in the confession scene. And this fic takes the two of them and makes it work in a way you wouldn’t believe was possible.

Someone wrote a sequel for it, but I didn’t enjoy it as much – I think it works fine as a stand-alone. Go. Read.

All Your Tomorrows by Jennifer-Oksana

Anya's story. Giles/Anya that works.

Decisions, Revisions, Reversals by Amy

Faith and Dawn. Lovely Dawn characterisation, and a Faith that makes my heart ache.

A Soft Place to Land

Willow/Xander. Okay, so I’m slightly sappy about this pairing. There’s nothing wrong with that, is there? Willow, Xander. Post-Chosen.

Along Came a Spider by Elizabeth

Oh. Oh. Oh. Spike and Dawn. This is so wonderful and creepy and a perfect, perfect Spike.

A Point Apart by Elizabeth

Kate dreams. This fic hurts.

I like Kate Lockley. There should be more Katefics out there.

Going Scully by Roseveare

And look, here's another one! The title should say it all. *g*

Rum Punch is a Colour of the Rainbow by Shaye
And, now for something completely different, we have, a sequel to The Wizard of Oz. That's right. That author rates it “PG-13 for corruption of a childhood icon and Prohibition-era drinking”.

Saving Harry, and Other Stuff by alejandra

I did rave about this author and her Hermione, right? Let me rave some more. Her Hermione is so, so *fabulous*. How can you resist something like: Hermione wrote long letters to Harry and Ron. Harry wrote back I HATE IT HERE I WANT TO LEAVE THIS REALLY SUCKS I HATE THIS, and Hermione just continued to write long letters about the flora and fauna and Salazar Slytherin's horrible luck with girls and Godric Gryffindor's chant, "Salazar is bahh-zaare," which she thought was silly? Also, ALL-CAPS! Harry is adorable. *g*

Her Hermione is brilliant, of course, but she also writes a kick-ass Ginny, who's evil because she's bored, and a Draco Malfoy, the Boy Who Wants to be Evil, Rusty (Ocean's Eleven!)…

Not Overly Concerned by Minervacat

Lily/Narcissa. The world needs more of this pairing.

Also, Lost fans may want to check this (Sawyer/Sayid) out. No, I don't know what it's like or who they are. I just saw this recced and thought you should know. *g*

*yawn*

"Along Came A Spider"? Creeeeeepy. *shudder* That's a scary Spike, IMHO

Yes, but vampires *are* creepy, aren't they? They can smell you, and feel the blood running through your body, and see the tiniest little things that you wouldn't see... Those little sensory details did the trick for me. Brilliant fic. *g*

"Saving Harry"? Perfect antidote to all the dark stuff I was reading last night.

Hermione is so amazing in that story. So is Harry. And Ron. And Draco. And I'll stop raving now. *g*
