+ Episode was quite enjoyable, if EXTREMELY CHEESY. I LOVE Arthur, and how he's learning to be openly affectionate towards Merlin -- while in contrast Merlin becomes more evasive than ever. OH BOYS.

+ Balinor's death was extremely random.

+ Merlin learning mercy. Is this character development? Will he remember this in the next episode future? Will it extend to female characters?

+ MERLIN'S FATHER == SIRIUS BLACK Y/Y?

+ MERLIN SPEAKS PARSELTONGUE AHAHA

+ I kept wondering how Morgana is, if she's alive after all (of course she is, but...), if she's recovered, if Morgause is taking good care of her, if she misses Camelot.

+ I was also pathetically pleased when Gaius mentioned her, ironic as it was. I expected nothing.

+ In retrospect, there has been a lot of poor writing this season (ha! this is Merlin!), but if it was supposed to make me love my girl any less it didn't work. She has almost *nothing* going for her at this point - even the privilege of rank has been stretched thin, and while Uther even lets her get away with forgiving Alvarr, her magic *would* be the last straw. He would be torn up about it, sure, but I'm not sure he is capable of rationality when it comes to magic, and all his love for Morgana could not withstand that. There is SO MUCH she doesn't know - almost like Arthur in this regard - which is ironic, because her very gift is that of foreknowledge. And she doesn't give up. She's still looking for answers, sometimes in the wrong places. But she's looking.

+ Oh Gwen! No one tells you anything, and everyone you love keeps going away. How foreshadow-y was that scene with her quietly despairing while looking down at Camelot?

+ On a meta level: show, if you're trying to tell me that male friendships are inherently superior to female friendships, I might just hit something. HARD.


+ Now that it's over, maybe I can have my brain back again, and my capacity to write. COME BACK SOON, SILLY SHOW. I WILL MISS LOVING/MOCKING/HEADDESKING AT YOU. ♥
