swatkat: (the good wife: kalinda wins)

There's a reason why The Good Wife is (on most days - and alongside Fringe, of course) the show of my heart. It just is consistently good, and manages to make me care for each and every member of the ensemble cast (almost as well as BSG - or perhaps better, because for a very long time in the course of BSG I wanted Lee Adama to shut up and for Baltar to be thrown out of the airlock, whereas I don't really mind Zach and Grace). And then there's Kalinda. Folks, can we talk about Kalinda, and how she SWEPT IN TO SAVE THE DAY? And how then she just stepped back and didn't take credit because she cares about Alicia and didn't want awkwardness in front of her daughter/didn't want to be rejected (after the slight hostility in the arbitration when she showed up to help Kaitlin)? Just, how do they manage to hit all my narrative kinks with Kalinda's storyline how?

And if that weren't enough, there was that wonderful bar scene with Will and Kalinda being bros. I love that this is a regular thing now. And because Kalinda won't talk about her feelings about Alicia - or her feelings at all - Will talks about his feelings instead, and she's supportive and emotionally available, and it's GLORIOUS.

I have no idea what's going on with Cary/Kalinda/Dana - Dana is the wildcard here, since we don't know her at all, but I'm glad that Kalinda is on to her games and her flirting without following through.

There was also a lot of other fun stuff in the episode:

* Diane. Just, Diane, and her everything. Like I said earlier - I love that she's the fixer. She gets stuff done, fixes shit and is always there with that glass of scotch when you need it.

* Grace trying to be emotionally supportive of her mother, aw.

* The return of Andrew Wiley, whom I disliked solely because he made Kalinda cry. More Andrew Wiley will be awesome.

* The return of Canning, who's an utterly slimy DELIGHT, and Martha-with-a-grudge. I love that he keeps offering Alicia a job. I suspect this is an Important Plot Point later in the season.

* Peter the concerned father.

* The return of Wendy Scott Carr. Okay, basically I just love how the show reuses its guest stars.

* Eli Gold eating the humble pie, ahaha. (I may secretly ship him with Diane.)

* The Will/Alicia breakup was unexpected, and oh, poor Will. Just when he was considering commitment, too.

monanotlisa: Kalinda looking at Alicia, both of The Good Wife (kalinda & alicia - tgw)
From: [personal profile] monanotlisa
This SHOW. I LOVE it. It's never OTT yet delivers the best drama out there, genuine and fascinating because that's how life and people can be.

And oh, Kalina. I love her so much; I want her to be happy so badly -- want her to have that friendship with Alicia again, or obviously a different one, more aware but strong and grounding too. (Plus, let's keep the Will & Alicia bar nights. As you say: to make Will Gardner the one with feeeeelings? Heh.)

Diane is who I want to (but will alas never be) when I grow up.
