Mama Said Knock You Out by AbsoluteDestiny
, featuring everybody's favourite mother-and-daughter duo, Toph and Lin Beifong. Watch it, because it's glorious.

+ I'm all caught up on Warehouse 13, and wow, the stakes keep getting higher this season! I'm genuinely curious as to how they'll resolve all of this - artifact ex machina comes to mind, but then this season is very much about how every artifact usage comes with it consequences, so it can't be as simple as that.

I've been a little annoyed by their failure to mention HG before this episode, so Myka's little 'HG is... god knows where' was heartening. I love that she continues refer to HG in the same sentence as her dead partner. I don't necessarily want HG to be a regular on the show - she's a character who works best in these fabulous, swashbackling appearances - but she's a major character dammit, and we deserve more than an off-hand 'she's gone...somewhere'.

I'm also afraid I'm turning out to be quite the Myka/HG tinhat. I don't know, it's not as though I haven't been burned in the past, but still. AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED, HOW CAN THEY NOT BE CANON?

The Artie/Claudia/Steve plotline is getting meatier with every episode, and I love it, even if my heart hurts for all three of them right now. One of the best things about Warehouse 13 is all the unusual love stories it tells, and its commitment to telling these stories and not pushing them to the sidelines in favour of yet another love story between the two heterosexual leads.

+ I read Wonder Woman #12, and can we discuss this please, guys? Because here's the thing - I don't care about the hows and the whys while reading a title as surreal and fantastic as this one, and goddess powers reveal was BRILLIANT. I don't think the reveal would have been as exciting if we had already been told about her goddess powers earlier down the line. Looking back now, it's evident that this is what is being alluded to in Diana's very first scene with Zola, where Zola surprises her while she's sleeping - it gives that scene a new depth, and that's quite great. I'm not surprised that Diana doesn't always choose to use such powers in fight - she is the epitome of 'with great power comes great responsibility.

The goddess powers revelation also makes me reconsider some of the early scenes between Diana and Aleka, as well as her painful confession about having been called 'Clay' since she was a child - perhaps Diana as a child had moments of loss of control in response to the teasing and goading ("Children can be cruel sometimes"). Adult Diana's composure is clearly a product of years of control and restraint. Gnnngh, it's like Azzarello knew that I cannot resist the trope of a 'powerful character who's always restrained because greater good', and made that an integral part of Diana's character.

Also, NEW GODS. IF BIG BARDA SHOWS UP AT SOME POINT, I MIGHT DIE OF JOY.

It's things like these that makes me love this book, despite my many, many issues with the origin change.

And that wasn't enough, we had a Batwoman and Wonder Woman team-up in Batwoman #12! Which is a three-issue arc! I'd fallen a lot behind on Batwoman, so I don't actually know what's going on with Medusa, but of course if you're fighting THE Medusa, it makes sense to get hold of Diana, even if this means Diana never did kill Medusa that first time. *sigh*

I'm also ashamed to admit that I think Chiang's Diana is even better than JH III's. Blasphemy I know.

Batwoman also teamed up with Batgirl in Batgirl #12, and while I found the issue interesting, I still can't get used to this new, younger Barbara. *facepalm*

Birds of Prey #12 was fun, although I'm not entirely sure where they're headed? Oh well. The #0 issues next month should be something to look forward to.
