I have a confession to make.

I like Titanic.

I wasn't a Leo fangirl even back when the movie came out and all the girls started worshipping him, and Jack/Rose doesn't do anything at all for me, but the movie itself? Like it. Like it very much.

It was being aired today, so I watched the drowning scenes. And cried (a bit), like I always do. Cameron has an eye for details, and it's the details that get me every.damn.time. Like when the musicians keep playing, Theoden the Captain and Jack Bristow the designer wait for the water to rush in, and then the camera shifts to the aged couple and the mother with her little children ('and they all lived happily ever after for the next 300 years'). And the rich gentleman sitting near the dining room with a glass of wine in his hand, watching people die, horrified. And then the view shifts to the lifeboat and they show Rose's mother and you *know* she's thinking "I left my daughter there to die" – and then the lights go out. Oh god. *sobs*

*is a sap*

*

Have a very happy new year, wherever you are. *raises glass*

I like that movie too.

I try and filter out Cameron's annoying Teh Brits are Evol! message (because it's shite) and just follow the smaller stories. Again, I find Kate and Leo boring as hell, but the other vignettes are great, and the big effects are stunning.

And no one would have been allowed near the prow of the bloody boat like that, Captain Smith would have arrested them.

Not to mention all the usual Hollywood Repressed Aristocracy vs. Amazing Commoners (tm). And yes, the prow - they could've fallen and *died*. They would've, if it weren't a movie, lol!

Still, it's a good movie. Sometimes I wish I could like the central pairing a bit more, but oh well. *shrugs*

I like it too. Okay, some of the dialogue is on the cheesy side, but the effects are great, and the scenes with the old couple and the poor mother down in steerage always get me.

Incidentally, my daughter's middle name is Rose, and I think Titanic planted it in my head -- I got pregnant with her the spring after it came out.

I like that movie, mostly because it's just so gorgeous to look at. The period costumes and the boat itself are fabulous.

Oh, I love the effects. Watching it on tv isn't quite the same.

I suppose it won't surprise you to learn that I spent the first 3/4 of that movie muttering, "For God's sake, just sink the damned ship already!!!!!" Heh.

When it finally *did* sink, though, it was quite fun.
