Watching House made me remember why exactly it is that I've always avoided medical shows: the medibabble is annoying unless spoken with a lot of snark (which, thankfully, is the case in this show), but what really, really gets to me is the actual action. All the seizures and injections and the pain – I spent a lot of time gritting my teeth and clutching a pillow to myself. I don't know *why* medical shows affect me this way - Rome had a doctor operating on Titus Pullo's skull while he was tied to a bed, and *that* wasn't nearly as horrifying as this.

But the show is funny. House and Cuddy are teh awesome, House and Wilson are married, and everyone is v. pretty, so I'm still watching.

Also, GIP. The base was made by [livejournal.com profile] xbroadwaydivax, and I made some minor modifications (the postcard frame. am really fond of it. and the brush). I don't know who the actor playing Elphaba is (can't be bothered to look. sorry.), but she's gorgeous and exotic here and I can't stop looking at it. *stares*

She *is* gorgeous and certainly makes a lovely Elphaba for icon purposes.

Oh yes, that she does. She's got just the right look for Elphaba.

I haven't read any of it

Me neither. Somehow, I can't just muster enough interest in the actors to read RPF (apart from the occasional Jossverse RPF). She does get paired with KC - the comm's called [livejournal.com profile] chenzel_love. So *both* Wicked FPF and RPF is dominated by a f/f OTP - that's quite rare, isn't it? Especially in the musical fandom, where you'd think Elphaba/Fiyero would be more popular. (BTW, I have revised my opinion on that ship - like it very much)

In RL, Idina Menzel's married to Taye Diggs, the lucky thing!

Ooh, he's gorgeous! Lucky thing, indeed. *g*

Yeah, I think it is rare. DH is much the same. But I don't see it (at least not from the links on [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today in other big f/f fandoms. *Is intrigued*

Especially in the musical fandom, where you'd think Elphaba/Fiyero would be more popular.

I wonder whether it might be more popular than we realize, once you get away from LJ. I haven't spent a lot of time exploring other fandom sites, especially the musical-centric ones. LJ is slashier than non-LJ in many other fandoms, so perhaps Wicked is no exception.

(BTW, I have revised my opinion on that ship - like it very much)

It serves a very different -- but just as important -- plot/character-development purpose than Glinda/Elphaba. Not just for itself, but as a way of setting up Elphaba's later interactions with Fiyero's family, which is one of the richest and most haunting parts of the book.

Ooh, he's gorgeous!

He's one of those people who are *SO* gorgeous it almost hurts to look at them directly. I feel like I need to put sunglasses on for protection! LOL.

Yeah, I think it is rare.

There are quite a few smaller OTP-driven fandoms out there (our very own LFN fandom included), but I've never come across a fandom with a f/f OTP (except Xena, which I've only heard of. that fandom has *no* LJ presence).

big f/f fandoms

Bigger fandoms automatically tend to be less OTP-driven than smaller ones. I know Buffyfandom or HPfandom encourages a variety of pairings, but that's also because of the nature of these fandoms. All the other big f/f fandoms seem to be those cop shows, and I'm pretty much clueless about them.

LJ is slashier than non-LJ in many other fandoms, so perhaps Wicked is no exception.

I'll go look. Unless they're very scary.

Oh yes, it does. It's the only close-up that we get of Elphaba the revolutionary at her prime. *sigh* I'm not sure why it didn't do much for me the first time, but re-reading that section I realised that I love it very much. And Fiyero too, who asks some interesting questions regarding the nature of her revolution.
