Ooh, Japan vs. Australia! Now that was some match! Australia would have scored earlier, if it wasn't for the Japanese goalie, who was absolutely brilliant. I mean, the second half was more or less played in the Japanese half, despite some brilliant counter-attacks by the Japanese.

Honestly, I think both these teams are capable of beating Brazil (as is Croatia. what a horrible group to be in!). Sure, Ronaldinho is in great form, but the Brazilian defence is absolutely ancient - Cafu and Roberto Carlos have been playing forever, and I'm not sure how effective they will be against the Japanese #3 with his killer right-wing run, or the Australian #15 with those brilliant passes.

Hee to Australia! We gave up and went to bed on 70 minutes (it's going to be a long, hard month in this part of the world), only to be woken twice in the next few minutes by cheers coming from all around our building. They thoroughly deserved that result, I thought.

Not so sure about Japan - I thought they looked a bit wimpy, although I may be biased by being in Australia.

Oh, the Australians were way better than Japan, but I've seen them play better, at least in the friendlies. And well, I really have doubts about the Brazilian defence - I'm not sure they could take all the running. We'll see tonight. *g*
