It's the same universe where they would eventually have twins and take a trip to Disneyland. (The badfic which prompted my other discussion.)

We didn't figure out the *why* part, but concluded that, with enough study, it might be possible to identify all the recurring elements and reconstruct a kind of Ur-Badfic from which all other badfic derives.

Everytime I read these horrible baby!fics, a part of my soul shrivels and dies. And then I'm filled with an insane desire to burn something, and also hit the said authors on the head with 'Three's a Crowd' (that pregnancy!fic I told you about) and scream 'This is how it's done, you idiots!'. [/melodrama]

I feel your pain... really. I have no idea. I want to know what goes through people's minds when they write this stuff.

I mean - okay - yes, it's fanfiction. Yes it's for fun and not to be taken seriously. But the point of fanfiction is to take beloved characters *as they are* and write them in new situations. NOT to take them and make them entirely different people with the same NAME. That would be original fiction - and hey, guess what? there's a site for that too! Go post there!

I know!! It's so frustrating! I hate how... horrible a grasp people seem to have on her character. I think one of the ones that bothers me the most (among all the others that bother me just as equally beause there's no way to win) is the "Cuddy is depressed/hates her job/is soooo tired" -line.

One thing that bothers me SO much about the show is we pretty much only get to see Cuddy in her interactions with House. Maybe if they gave us a little more background on who she is the other 97% of the time, we wouldn't have this problem.

... except that we probably would. But it's nice to dream.

SHE DOESN'T HATE HER JOB! God, which show are these people watching? Her most definitive characteristic is that she loves her job - is obessesed with it, in fact, and (mostly) doesn't care what she has to give up for it.

Sometimes I want to make a post at house_cuddy and ask if they really think Cuddy hates her job. But people would probably just say yes and I don't think I could bear it.

One thing that bothers me SO much about the show is we pretty much only get to see Cuddy in her interactions with House. Maybe if they gave us a little more background on who she is the other 97% of the time, we wouldn't have this problem.

She's horribly underused as a character. Actually, what annoys me about the show in general is the lack of background on all the characters except House. On one hand, they're all so very well-defined, even with the little story they get, and yet, it can be very frustrating. Foreman didn't get a storyline till Euphoria. Compare it with a show like Buffy or Angel, and you'll immediately see the difference. (of course, I still love my show *g*)

I couldn't do that. Obsessed. With House/Wilson, I follow recs and then follow the authors around. But with other pairings - particularly with Cuddyfic, there's no reccing, no organisation, and I *have* to read fic about Cuddy. So I keep looking everywhere, reading through horrible, horrible things hoping to discover hidden gems. *sigh*
