Well, the basic idea is Vetinary sending Vimes to PPTH (via wizards, to make it "plausible") to track down a dangerous wizard gone bad. Cuddy will frown (because PPTH's latest experience with policeman hasn't exactly been pleasant), and will assign House to babysit Vimes, in a sense, both because he owes her and because his detecting skills can come on handy. I don't know why the bad wizard went to PPTH yet, but there will be a magic convention of some sort that'll bring lots of our-universe magicians to PPTH, so that'll keep House and Vimes trying to guess who are the tricksters and who's the real wizard. Eventually I want House and Vimes to bond (kind of like Vimes and 71-hour-Ahmed), not to antagonize each other. And I know the last two paragraphs of the fic.
