I'm home!

Technically, I was back on the 4th, but there was a cousin's wedding to attend (and a very close cousin at that. I even wore a sari for her sake, but we shall not talk about this incident anymore. it's kind of embarrassing that I *still* make a fool of myself when I am forced to wear one – maybe I should try and learn. someday.), and there was much excitement over that. (Trivia: most Indian languages do not have a synonym for 'cousin', so I always have to consciously use the word 'cousin' when I'm talking to anyone who is not an Indian and doesn't know and therefore might ask questions like 'Isn't your sister too young to get married?'). I could use some good sleep, but there are SO MANY PEOPLE to meet – I don't know how I will manage in such a short vacation (a month, but how long does that take?). It's pleasantly chilly here, as I expected, and I shudder to think what will happen when I go back in January. Oh well, no point worrying about it now.

Weddings are such odd occasions, aren't they? On one hand, it's such an amazing thing, and yet on the other hand you feel a little bit sad, because equations change, and sometimes you don't want them to. The BIL is a cool guy, though – a welcome addition to the family.

I love House/Cuddy fandom. Even if they are kind of weird and extraordinarily sappy and occasionally very scary (just peek into house_cuddy and go through some posts – it's positively traumatizing), only they could say, 'Yes, we're very happy with the comfort level and the friendship and the drama, but can we please have more bickering now?' Because, let's face it: the best thing about the ship is that they are *not* together and are not going to be, ever, on the show, and that they are really really hot when they bicker.

I have a request, dear flist. I've jonesing for some good House/Wilson for ages, but I'm too scared to look – there's just so much of it out there, and so little to my taste (from what I could find). I manage with the Cuddyfic (and some of you have been writing it. I HAVE IT ALL BOOKMARKED), because I have to, but House/Wilson fandom intimidates me. So. Any recs? Preferably written within the last three or four months? Anything will do, as long as it is House/Wilson. I trust your tastes.

Neither do I! Earlier I tried to hold discussions over there - these days I just stick to my flist because the 'House is clearly in love with Cuddy and it's a matter of time now before Shore understands the power of their true love' became too much to handle. However, I do love the fact a lot of the saner people want House and Cuddy to bicker instead of declare their One True Love on the show. *g*

Sigh. I feel your pain. Writing papers under orders is so very tiresome.

But. I'm here, and yes I'll be around (YAY!) and when *is* your birthday, BTW? The sari was nearly not as unbearable as I thought it'd be - my mother helped me wear it, of course, because I, unlike my sister, cannot wear one myself (*sigh*). I did not make a fool out of myself, even though there were people telling me to 'walk properly' and 'not slouch'. There were times I nearly tripped over the thing, but that didn't happen, either. I also wore more make-up than I have *ever* worn and earned a lot of compliments, which, I admit, was nice. Saris are nice things. Someday I'll learn to wear them, I swear.

However, for some good post FJ fic - you did read queenzulu's latest, right? I haven't had the opportunity to tell her yet, but it's amazing. It's exactly how it should be.

I almost cried. *this close* My mother was right there, though, so I settled for the *jaw-->floor* expression. (I'm still spoiler free, so whatever's happening in 3x14 pleeeease don't mention it!) And it totally made up for the horrendous medical plot lines that were WYD and Humpty Dumpty. Even the title redeemed itself.

I had to drop house_cuddy from my flist because I just couldn't take it anymore! I've never felt such a powerful urge to seize people around the throat and throttle them for being so insipid. Even the worst of the Gelphie and the Bree/Lynette fen aren't that bad. But I still nose around looking for fic -- that one by queenzulu is on my "to-read" batch on del.ic.ious, but I'll get around to it faster now that you've recced it.

I don't have many House/Wilson recs (I depend on you for those!). I have a confession, though -- I just joined a comm for House/Tritter. I haven't gone back and read the posts to see if what's there is good or horrible, though. But I must ask: what is wrong with me???? I don't usually have much interest in m/m, and *THIS* is what piques my interest? I am worried.

There are several shops in Berkeley that sell saris, and every time I go past them and see their window displays, the very idea of trying to put one on -- much less move around in one -- intimidates me. They're so pretty, though!

Saris aren't so bad once you learn how to handle them - but it's a bitch until you do. And one of these days I'm going to have to, because the older I grow the more I learn how important it is on a formal occasion. There's also the added benefit of you looking elegant no matter what you look like.

Tritter is indeed teh evol -- he even chews his gum menacingly! I am repelled but simultaneously enthralled by him. However, I suspect there won't be much fic, because (1) everyone else is squicked by the idea and (2) Tritter's arc won't last much longer, given how many episodes he's already been in. But perhaps I'll do a ficlet or two. Drabbles, even.

Fuffy! My absolute favourite. Especially because Faith/Buffy tends to be a very dark/sexy pairing, and yet "Fuffy" is obviously the name of someone's toy poodle.
