I hear the bells, they are like emeralds

My father has somehow managed to misplace some very important documents of mine. He had them with him, because I wasn't here my beloved ex-university issued them, and he had stored it away in his usual methodical way - and now they've *vanished*. So I had to spend the last two hours trying to stop my parents from flipping out and convincing them that yes, the ex-university will issue new ones for me (they know that. *everyone* knows that. a lot of running about for me, though - and here I had planned to take a break tomorrow before I leave the day after), and no, the current university will not kick me out if I don't provide the said documents when I go in to re-register because I shall be giving them adequate proof (and I just learnt about my grades this semester - FUCKING GOOD about sums it up - and no, they really won't be kicking me out anytime soon). When did I become the adult person in the family? This is somewhat disturbing.
Among other things: I don't understand - *why* do the little old ladies in the neighbourhood think our flowers are public property? This has happened *twice* this month.
*
So the episode description for 3.14, One Day, One Room tells us that this episode consists of House being in the clinic, all day long. That's right - all day long. No POTW. No cases to solve. Just clinic duty, all day long. It's like Cuddy's happiest dream coming true! *squee*

Date: 2007-01-04 06:30 pm (UTC)The sad thing is, mine doesn't generally lose things - he really is the most methodical person in the family while the rest of us are slobs. Too methodical, in this case. It would never have been lost if he'd just kept it in the normal place (which is a confused mess, but everything is *there*) instead of a SUPER SAFE place. And thank you. *g*

I think my father is methodical in his own head. But his methodology is not other people's methodology, and he keeps forgetting his system anyway. Also, he reorganises it every now and then, which adds to the fun.

Fortunately, they are usually still good at some things, so you don't have a total shift of responsibility, but this will continue to happen until one day you realize that you are indeed the adult.

That ep is either 3.11 or 3.14. Either way, it seems they're planning to cool things down a bit, after all this drama. Can't you just imagine him in there, with Cuddy popping in to taunt him every now and then?

Date: 2007-01-05 02:11 pm (UTC)I can't believe the flower story -- my folks had marigolds stolen from their front garden just this week! What is this, some sort of new global trend?
