S.: Well, it *is* just April...
D.: That bird is just trying aestheticize and legitimize this disgusting heat by creating an *impression* of spring, isn't it?

It's 2nd April, and already it's so hot I want to crawl into a refrigerator and never come out again. Or quite possibly, go home. It's not as if it *isn't* hot back home, but there you don't have this dry heat - this *blinding* sunshine and dust all over. Delhi is absolutely beautiful in summer, the campus even more so, with the trees flowering and growing new leaves and shedding, all at the same time, as if they can't quite decide what to do at a time like this. The nights are still pleasant and breezy (if you don't count the mosquitos), and if you're out for too long (as I frequently am), you might even require a shawl. But daytime is unbearable, especially when you just can't avoid going out in the sun. I'm telling myself that I won't be here for the worst of it (May. June. Most of July), but it's just paltry consolation. It's hot. And it just keeps getting hotter everyday.

Trust me, you do not want this heat. I come from a place which could compete with Australia anyday on humidity levels... 37 degrees and no sweat - it kills.

You could always come here (upper left hand corner of US) we're blooming right now, but evenings are still chill enough to make soup a good choice.

As opposed to August, when I slink from shady spot to shady spot.

But even then we're much better off than many places, so I shouldn't complain.
