OMG SHOW
First, a complaint. SIX. I WANT MORE SIX. It's entirely possible they're saving up her (their) storyline for the next half, but dammit, I WANT MORE SIX. NOT ENOUGH SIX.
Okay, another complaint: why is Kara suddenly sane now? I love, I LOVE that she is, and that she's stepped up to the task - but why? Where is all the crazy gone? See, Leland Obama's arc (we guffawed when he started speaking about 'change'; srsly, Ron Moore) makes perfect sense, but couldn't they have squeezed in a leeetle bit of Kara instead of going on and on about Romo Lampkin and his head!cat?
That said. OMG THEY REACHED EARTH. There was happy music, hugging in the CIC and Lee jumping on tables! They're DOOMED, I'm telling you. DOOMED. BECAUSE EARTH IS A NUCLEAR WASTELAND. OMG! (And Lee clearly wanted to hug Daddy, but Roslin was taking up all his space.
I really liked Lee in an episode after a very long time (the show keeps doing this to me), because, like Roslin said, he had a crisis to deal with (two, if you count Daddy falling apart like a pack of cards) and he handled it wonderfully. (But I'd be happier if he cut his hair. Please, Lee.)
Speaking of Adama and Tigh, how deep is their love? I was a little meh about Adama's breakdown, but it makes sense, given that TIGH is a frakking toaster now. TIGH. His BFF for thirty years and most trusted ally. The Adama/Tigh reveal was wonderful; great acting from both EJO and Michael Hogan. ETA: Gah, the scene is *worse* in rewatch. I take back the meh (well, most of it. WTF emo robe, Bill?) about Adama's breakdown. It's Saul Tigh, people. Could they be any slashier?
Tigh!!!!!!!!!!! ♥
Baltar and Laura's interaction was great, very much like the previous episode. Also, Laura and Lee's little amused look once Adama is up and about like nothing happened, what breakdown, hahaha, is PRICELESS. Hee.
D'Anna. You really are the coolest Cylon ever. Her expression in the end, when she stands beside Adama and Roslin, is absolutely *priceless*.
A lot of loose threads - Adama and Tigh; the Final Cylon (was Dee on Earth? if she wasn't, my bet is on either Ellen or Kendra); Kara and Sam; Kara and Leoben; the Dying Leader; human/Cylon reconciliation (?); Caprica Six (can we have a D'Anna/Caprica reunion plz?); Laura and Tory...
Was that the Temple of Aurora? Why else would they show us the Scriptures in the beginning? And it ended panning on Starbuck, as always ("Fight'em till we can't"; "I found Earth"), and Starbuck is Aurora...
I can't believe we have to wait till 2009.
Bear McCreary has an excellent post on this episode's music here. (the post contains spoilers)

Oh, man. Was that supposed to be the Brooklyn Bridge? Whatever it is, it's *fabulous*. OMG, how are we supposed to survive till 2009?

Date: 2008-06-14 02:48 pm (UTC)So I completely agree about the lack of Six. I totally got squicked out at the end when they're on apocalyptic Earth and she reached for Tigh. Now that everyone knows he's a cylon, are they going to be raising their cylon kid together? Does Leemo's amnesty extend to CapricaSix as well? Is she finally out of that damn jail cell? Will we never see ChipSix making Baltar's life a living hell again? But I laughed so hard when Adama announced that they were on the way to Earth and Gaius joined hands with the two harem members because for a second, he seemed to be considering whether he wanted to have a threesome or whether he wanted to worship the ceiling.
I was sort of waiting the whole episode for Six and Leoben to madly start making out because Leoben looked hotter last night than he ever has.
Saul Tigh breaks my heart.

He does. And so does Caprica Six. Which is why I'm warming up to the idea of Tigh/Six. Tigh, as far as we've seen, is *extremely* ambivalent about his 'relationship' with Six, but, you know, here are these two characters with tremendous capacity of love and singleminded devotion (Saul to Adama; Caprica to God), and so maybe, *maybe* it's not so bad after all...
I WANT A SIX/THREE REUNION NOW. Caprica appears to be over Gaius, but what about D'Anna? D'Anna dumped her over God. That's ten kinds of awesome right there.

Date: 2008-06-15 03:35 am (UTC)Yeah, I've been wondering this myself the past few episodes. Her characterization has been all over the place. But I guess the prophecy by both hybrids came true: Starbuck *did* lead her people to the Apocalypse. It just wasn't their Apocalypse. Poor Earth!
But my main reaction: Saul Tigh, how much do I love you????

He renders me incoherent with love. INCOHERENT. Tigh!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
I'm confused about the final Cylon again. Is it someone dead, then? Is it Kendra? Is it Ellen? Is the final Cylon God? Is Ellen God?... *speechless*

Date: 2008-06-15 08:19 am (UTC)If it's someone not "in the fleet", all I can think of is: (1) it's someone we think is dead; (2) it's a totally new character; or (3) TPTB is playing tricky word games about what "in the fleet" means.
If it's #1, Ellen is a possibility, as is Cain. I don't think Kendra was an important enough character for this: the Final Cylon has to be someone significant, dramatically speaking, because they've built it up as such a big reveal. I would *love* to see either Ellen or Cain come back, though. There are also kind of crackverse possibilities, like Adama's dead wife, which would make Lee the actual first mutant Cylon/Human baby. LOL!
If it's #3, I'll be annoyed, because that seems like cheating, but we'll see. That might be the most likely of the options in the end.

Date: 2008-06-15 02:17 pm (UTC)I would love for Cain to come back! Oh god, the irony! She would make a kickass final Cylon.
Since Roslin, Helo and co. were not on Galactica at that particular moment, does this mean they're in the running? I would love for Roslin to be a Cylon, if only it means she won't die. Why was Hot Dog unhappy and not hugging others in the celebration montage? (although I doubt *he's* the finaly Cylon).

Bwahaha!!!

The Final Five appear to have originated from Earth, which means the final Cylon could very well the only survivor on Earth, waiting for our heroes to arrive...

Date: 2008-06-15 05:37 am (UTC)I dunno if Lee can or will pardon Caprica. Laura's back, isn't that her call?
Yes, that was the Brooklyn Bridge. And, yes, I think that *must* be the Temple of Aurora -hubby caught it for me. Why else would they make the point of it in the beginning?
YOU MAY NOT TOUCH LEE'S HAIR! I likes it long! Did you see the way Papadama's fingers curled into Lee's hair? *g*

Date: 2008-06-15 07:58 am (UTC)Caprica was also on ground, so I'm assuming she has been pardoned as well? And she walked right past Baltar and reached out to Tigh! (Okay, I want someone to love Caprica, even if it is Tigh. Actually, Tigh is capable of fierce love. This episode was all about Tigh's undying love for Adama... Caprica/Tigh can be an interesting ship, actually.)
And, yes, I think that *must* be the Temple of Aurora -hubby caught it for me. Why else would they make the point of it in the beginning?
Yes, exactly. But where do we go from here?
Did you see the way Papadama's fingers curled into Lee's hair? *g*
Well, he could use a cut himself...
