My thinky post will also be tl;dr and somewhat weepy, because I keep stopping and rewatching the Cuddy scenes in the episode. Meanwhile, why not have a shallow squee post to cheer me up?

I've wanted House and Cuddy to kiss from, like, the Pilot. Going over my past entries, I wrote this in my first House-related post: saw House. Hugh Laurie is disturbingly hot. I don't generally enjoy medical shows (because of the very annoying patient-doctor interactions. you know, the parts were the patient lectures the doctor and gives him Will to Live etc. there was some of it in this ep as well), but considering how much time I spent today thinking about people I'd ship House with (Wilson. because they are so married. Cuddy. the snark. *and* she's his boss) and laughing over lines like "Oxygen is so important during those pre-pubescent years, don't you think?", I'll probably watch some more of this show. Second one: But the show is funny. House and Cuddy are teh awesome, House and Wilson are married, and everyone is v. pretty, so I'm still watching. I was clearly showing my principle interests in the show already, even as a babyfan. I'd kind of envisioned that if ever the ship happened outside our fantasies it would be something flirty and fun. And instead we got desperate and pathetic and awkward, and I'm not complaining because it was AWESOME. House is a foot taller than she is, and she's distraught and House is a horrible person to take advantage of her vulnerability and Cuddy should've kneed him in the balls instead of kissing back. And of course they're terribly out of practice, because the last time House kissed a real person was... Cameron. And the last time Cuddy kissed a real person was Don.

AND! I love that Cuddy is wearing that BIG sweater and her hand is kinda caught in it and House looks stupid with his nose bumping against hers, and even STUPIDER as he turns and FLEES because he has NO IDEA what he just did. And Cuddy looks stunned and a little horrified, poor dear.

There was CONFRONTATION! OVER FINDING JUDAS! Which I've waited for only for two seasons! And Angry!Cuddy, GAH.

OH. And there was lingering! Mmmph.

There. I've used up my shipper quota for the day. I'm not really a Shipper, but I do sometimes squee when nice things happen to ships I care for.

Hehee. WORD. Out of curiosity - do you think House's motivation for fleeing was 100% "holyfuckwhatdidijustdo?" or could there have been a TEENY TINY bit of, "if this goes any further I'll pretty much be taking advantage of the woman i so totally have the hots for my boss"? My inner romantic is all, He left because he cares! and my inner-I've been watching this show for 5 years- brain is going, he probably just scared the shit out of himself. What are your thoughts?

Also, can we PLEASE have an episode where Cuddy knees him in the balls? Or at least smacks him? That would be great.

That didn't occur to me at all! I've been thinking along the 'he has no idea what he's doing and now he must TURN and FLEE' lines. But if he did have a couple of brain cells left at that point (which is doubtful, you know, because HE JUST GOT KISSED BY CUDDY) he might have considered 'oh noes, taking advantage'. But House is also terrified of intimacy and actually getting what he wants, and the kiss was *very* intimate, so was probably mostly 'MUST.FLEE.NOW.'

I'm pretty sure you're right, it's more the Must Flee that kicked in than anything else. But. Still. I like to harbor overly romantic notions. ^^

I found part of what was supposed to be a 'five things' fic on my computer yesterday, with a Cuddy in Paris with Child section. Wasn't very good, but still. Oh, the angst. DS is a douche. Cuddy should have a baby. :( I think I will be forced to write some kind of angst before the arc is over. There's just too much of it. it calls to me.

But I am very, every excited for your threesome comfort fluff! I have a feeling we're really, really gonna need it.

Word to all that. I loved the pathetic, and awkward, and desperate, and the out of practice-ness. So glad to see some mentions of the IVF and resentment over the Finding Judas comment (worse damn thing ever to come out of House's mouth). Kiss was still HOT, but nice to see it wasn't "perfect". Loved how raw it was.
