Armed men attack the bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to the venue of the Lahore test. Policemen were killed. Players were injured.

My first reaction was pure horror. My second reaction was "Thank god we pulled out of the tour."

I was actually against the pullout when it was first announced, because we can't afford to cut off ties every time something happens. Because then, we'll never talk.

But then there's this.

The Sri Lankan team was actually doing a good thing for Pakistani cricket, because Pakistan has not played a single test in 2008 and now Pakistani players will not be playing IPL this year and that leaves them with what? They have such a fabulous, young side, sitting at home with nothing to do. Grrr.

Oh, exactly! I'm very glad the players were not very badly hurt, but the very thought... They were actually doing a good thing, touring Pakistan when no one else will!
