Apr. 12th, 2009 01:29 amI figured out how to use OpenID today, because some of you are planning to move to Dreamwidth, and I do want to read and comment. I'm very cautiously excited about DW, the same way I have been about OTW. I have high hopes of it. That said, I don't actually want to shift from LJ right now. Because I've grown attached to this place, this journal and all these communities I've found and the people I've met. And unless all of you migrate to DW, I'm staying put. Maybe maintain both journals. (But in case you all do leave - TAKE ME ALONG OKAY? /lemming)
If you have already moved to DW, or are planning to, please comment with your ID so that I know where you are?
ETA: Have set up OpenID account at DW!

Date: 2009-04-11 08:35 pm (UTC)Dreamwidth is a journal platform, based on LJ's code. Some shiny people in fandom alongwith some other shiny people who are probably not in fandom began to set up after the various LJ brouhahas. It went live a few weeks ago, and is still in closed beta (opens in April 30). It promises to be very cool. This (http://zvi-likes-tv.livejournal.com/492320.html#cutid1) might be a good place to start if you want to know more about it.
OpenID (http://openid.net/) is a single digital identity across the web. Which basically means you can use your OpenID account to comment in LJ, IJ *and* DW if you so wish.

Date: 2009-04-11 10:41 pm (UTC)I'll probably dither about it until the end of the month, then decide. But even if I do get an account, I would still cross-post to LJ (I think DW even makes it possible to do all the cross-posting automatically from there?), so I wouldn't disappear.

Date: 2009-04-19 07:37 am (UTC)I have a dreamwidth account as of today, and I'll most likely move there when everything settles in. I like what they're trying to do with it, so yeah -- see you there! :)
(oh, and I managed to get artisan447 there so now my journal will match my writing name. Yay!)
