swatkatFirst, I get to gloat. This , flist, is a story I did not finish after the S4 finale:
And now I don't have to, because TPTB read my mind. *g*
Again, I have very brief bullet-points, not having the energy to produce coherent meta:
* I love hallucination!Amber, and the fact that she's snarky and fun like real!Amber—and also that she's not real!Amber. In the bus, she played the role of the angel on House's shoulder—she looked wise and radiant as she told him to get off the bus. And here she's the devil, and she's a wicked, wicked thing, and I love how House can be at once be amused and horrified by her. But she is dangerous, because she is not House, she's subconscious!House.
* It's now canon that House wants to sleep with Wilson. Not that it wasn't canon before.
* Strange use of lighting on House's face. And that one black and white moment—it's a moment where he's completely lost inside his own head, isn't it? Which was foreshadowed in 'Locked In'?
* House throws fun parties! I always knew he had it in him, when he wasn't being mopey and miserable.
* Trust House to spend his own party in the bathtub, alone and with a bottle of alcohol.
* A lot of objectification going on in that party there.
* I hereby christen Wilson 'Partypantsless', to go with Cuddy's 'Partypants'. Do you think he called Cuddy after being intercepted by the police? I ♥ Wilson.
* Hee, Cameron, seeing through the very transparent 'kidnapping' attempt.
* WTF, killing Chase? That made no sense.
* Oh, Cuddy locking the drunk!trio in the exam room and forcing them to come up with something! ♥♥♥
* Amber did not object when House told Cuddy that he had not been sleeping. She only looked very sad. House's subconscious feels safe enough with Cuddy now? Interesting.
* Taub KILLED me in this episode.
* Kutner would have enjoyed that party.
It turns up one evening in his office, soon after his head stops hurting (mostly) and he's allowed back to work by a clearly uncertain Cuddy.
'She,' it says, settling itself comfortably on his deck chair, radiant in a pale pink suit and matching scarf. Ethereal, House would say. If House used words like that.
House blinks. 'Excuse me?'
'I would prefer if you referred to me as 'she' instead of 'it',' it explains. 'A lot more intimate that way.'
'You're a figment of my imagination,' House points out. 'And I don't do intimate. Why are you here?'
'You tell me,' it cocks an eyebrow. 'I'm a figment of your imagination.' Taunting; familiar gleam in its eyes.
