+ Every year while growing up I would get a cough at least once a year. Of the kind that leaves you coughing your lungs out at the oddest moments. And then your asthma acts up, not enough to make you really *ill* but just enough to make you uncomfortable.
Good to know that some things never change.
+ Pushing Daisies! WAAAH! YOU CAN'T LEAVE US LIKE THAT! I WANT MORE! My PD character love currently goes like this: Emerson > Olive > The Aunts > Ned&Chuck. And since I love Ned&Chuck very much, you should be able to imagine how much I love Emerson. And Olive. And the Aunts! ♥♥♥
jaybee65, you're going to have to give it a shot, just for Emerson. It's probably not your thing - but then there's Emerson.
+ There have been a lot of interesting reactions to the 'privilege' meme doing the rounds on LJ-land (I qualify; I'm sitting here in front of my computer talking to you in English - of course I'm privileged). I see a lot of, shall we say, White Man's Guilt, especially in the 'other' version of the meme going around, which seems to have been prepared especially to induce guilt in the recipient. Presence in LJ-fandom implies: access to a computer, personal or public; access to the source text - book or media; some knowledge of the English language, even if you hang out in your non-English corner of the fandom. *Most* - please note I say most, not all - of these people *aren't* going to be from backgrounds where there is little possibility of not going to school and not having enough to eat. Guilt isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course, unless also accompanied by the notion that you can actually manufacture things like, say, democracy…
