swatkatFurther Legend of the Seeker, 1.08&09: How is that this show passes the Bedchel test effortlessly in almost every episode? 1.09 didn't even need Kahlan to pass the Bedchel test (neither did 1.08, in fact, although it had Kahlan having Bedchel-passing interactions with another woman as well) - they did it with one-off characters. This is a very, very refreshing change from everything. *applauds*
+ I approve of gratuitous naked!sweaty!tortured Richard. Especially when the torturer in question is a leather-wearing badass woman weilding a Giant Dildo of Pain.
+ Impressed that the camera shied away from sexualizing tortured!Kahlan, though they certainly could have.
+ Kahlan slamming Richard against the tree and just going for it, GUH.
+ The Mord'Sith are kind of awesome.
+ Aww, little Rachel. Although - ACK - is Rahl going to follow through on his threat about Violet? Because she's a horrible little child, yes, but that?
+ Aww Richard and Kahlan's little squabbles about overprotective!Richard. Kahlan can kill people with her *hair*, Richard - she does not need your protection! You on the other hand need her to save your ass in every episode! (I like Richard/Kahlan, but I, um, also like the idea of Kahlan/Hot Women in Leather and Kahlan/Rahl).
+ It was nice to see a Zedd-centric episode. Go Zedd!

it's all how you use it bymusesfool: They have to be more than cardboard cut-outs or stereotypes! But then they're taking too much time away from the (inevitably male) leads, and who cares that much about secondary characters' backstories? They can't be love interests! But they can't be sexually unappealing, either! They can't be interested in (ew!) traditionally feminine pursuits or they're setting back the cause, but they can't be too tomboyish, 'cause then they're just men with boobs!
