And today I cooked vegetables. There was only a little extra salt in it.

In Which Wilson Needs To Question His Actions:

WILSON: Is this.... an apology?
HOUSE: Part of the program, if you don't like it I can stop.
WILSON: Not at all, it's just so... unfamiliar. Please, keep going.
Words and Deeds

Then, of course, it turns out to be a lie. Nothing changes. The writers push the big reset button and House's apology turns out to be just words, as opposed to Cuddy's actions, which ultimately save his ass. House apologises to Wilson later in 'Wilson's Heart', and again in 'Dying Changes Everything' for failing to save Amber's life, offers an apology of sorts in 'Birthmarks' and another one in 'Known Unknowns',

I am incapable of turning away from a responsibility. My friends take advantage
of that fact far too often. I know that I gave that man everything I could. And I know that he knew that too. This is a burden no one should have to carry alone. And this is a decision no one should make alone.

It's about Wilson's sense of guilt over assisting a patient to commit suicide—and also about House. It means a lot to Wilson, as he tells House later. 'Known Unknowns'—thanks to the choppy editing and too many storylines—was one of my least favourite episodes this season, but some important things did happen in it; at that time, I was quite certain that Wilson knew what House was talking about—that is to say, about Wilson's case, and also about himself, and that he thanked House in the end for all of it. I'm wondering now if that was the case, given how he pushed (passive-aggressively) for an apology from House. There was a lot of projection going on there, especially in the second speech about Cuddy needing an apology from House, and while we do know that Wilson is capable of seeing through House's words and seeing his actions for what they are, I'm beginning to think that he does perhaps need those words as well. Without subterfuge, without clever wording—blunt as only House can be.

Meanwhile, he continues, as always, to push House towards Cuddy, knowing how fraught their relationship is, knowing what it might lead to. If House's actions unknowingly led to Amber's death, Wilson actions (that of provoking House, asking him to go for the jugular)—again, unknowingly—led to House and Cuddy's altercation in 'Both Sides Now' and everything that followed. This is not to say Wilson is responsible for happened to House, absolutely not. But the events of 5.24 required some serious reconsideration from everyone. Cuddy did, and hence her refusal to play games (I'm curious how long this will last—especially once the Vicodin plot comes in, as it must). Wilson, in contrast, is still pushing House at Cuddy—because he wants House to be happy, and in Wilson's world, relationships = happiness—and in the process enabling him, just like Lydia did in 'Broken. This cannot end well, oh no.

In Which Cuddy's Father May Or May Not Be Alive:

Is he? Isn't he? I have no idea. Help?

I have also realised that I really want to see another 'Joy'-like apology from House. I don't need the kissing—hot as it would be. Just some more honesty, like House has tried to be this season. It would be incredible.

Etc.

+ But why must the psychopath be cured? She was awesome!

+ Thirteen, have you considered PUNCHING FOREMAN IN THE FACE? And House, while you're at it. And maybe Chase too, although you don't know about Dibala. And a small, politely worded threat to Cuddy about how it will look when it turns out she was fired by her superior who was in a relationship with her.

+ But meddling in the POTW's life? Not cool. Please don't do it again, Thirteen.

+ ♥ the POTW pointing out that the hospital comes first as far as Cuddy is concerned.

+ The clinic scene! Spanish!

+ TAUB!
