Feb. 9th, 2010 01:26 amLegend of the Seeker 2.03: I'm sorry, but I absolutely cannot tolerate Richard's hair anymore. It has grown into this... thing that looks like it will come into life any moment now, or spout a tentacle or two. Not even Jason Segel's hair in S4 HIMYM was this traumatizing. Jesse Spenser's frequently unwashed mop over the last couple of seasons of House has nothing on it. A few more inches, and it will become just like book!Snape's hair, and at least he is awesome (in his own fashion), which Richard can never hope to be.
What do you mean I'm being shallow? Am I supposed to watch this show for the plot or something?
That said, wow. They just gave Cara a backstory. And a sister who loves her. And emotions (even if she doesn't believe in such things) and sarcasm and a wonderful, stubborn pride. They showed, once again, that Kahlan isn't infallible and that sometimes she can be driven by the desire to obtain vengeance.
Richard's faith in Cara is touching, and that's why I can never really dislike him, no matter how whiny he is on occasion. The boy has his heart in the right place. Cara is sort of like this psychotic-but-adorable kitten that he took under his wing, and every time Kahlan speaks against her he makes this 'you kicked my kitten! stop kicking my poor kitten!' face which is adorable. Despite the hair.
"You sent me away. I didn't know where else to go." Awww. ♥
It's also definitely intentional that Cara's origin story has so many parallels with Kahlan's: fathers, sisters, betrayals. Kahlan's father—as far as we know—did betray his two daughters; Cara's didn't. They're both w00bies, oh my. ♥♥♥
Also, hee, did the show just make fun of itself through Flynn there? 'Carnival act' indeed.
"But if I die, the Seeker will need protection." ♥♥♥
And now Kahlan also feels responsible for Cara, aww.
