Dec. 15th, 2003 07:48 amEveryone seems to be excited about the ROTK premiere on the 17th. Too bad I won't get to see it till February, when it releases over here. *sigh* Anyway, I've been surfing all the LOTR websites looking for screen caps and pics from the movie, and Aragorn inspired me to make these icons. I'm putting them up here because I want to show off I don't know what else to do with them.*g*

Date: 2003-12-15 08:12 am (UTC)I'm not sure when it will open here - sooner than later I think. Duluth is far from everything else, which makes it quite the center for a fairly big rural 'hinterland' - so big movies tend to open here the same or very soon after their 'opening' date.
Nice pics - there was only one I haven't seen before - the one where his beard looks full and gray (?). That is a spoiler of sorts - though, even having read the books a dozen times at least - I haven't a clue for what. It must be a PJ movie-verse thing.

Date: 2003-12-16 01:25 pm (UTC)The implied aging of the gray in his beard made me wonder how PJ is going to wrap everything up afterall, especially as he has been quite public about that he doesn't include the "Scouring of the Shire" at the end.
So, I had sort of gotten the notion that everything was going to end at that big ceremony at the cross roads in Ithylin after Sauron is destroyed...looks like I was wrong - or, I suppose, this could be another of PJ's inserted "Elrond predicts the future" bits....
By the way, and totally shifting the subject slightly - I've caught in ads and the bit that got sent with Liv Tyler to Letterman last night - that PJ is really playing up the father daughter conflict over her relationship with Aragorn.
I was kinda into my personal notion that as she replaced Glorfindel at the ford, that she would take her brothers' place at Aragorn's side at the end. Looks like instead we get a silly riff on Romeo and Juliet. Sigh.

Date: 2003-12-17 03:54 am (UTC)I didn't like that "You must go with us" angle in TTT. It struck me somewhat OOC for Elrond to do something like that. Elrond is too dignified a character to force his daughter into anything against her wish. He was against it, but he let her make her own choice, and that made the Elrond character more interesting for me.

Hmm, I'm not sure if PJ could've actually resisted inserting the grand wedding and all that in the movie. Let's see...
