I have been reading Blue Beetle. I'm only up to 9 issues or so, and Jaime Reyes is the best ever and there isn't a thing I don't like about it. Also, he told off Oracle and made fun of the Birds of Prey (and then Dinah made fun of Babs some more), I LOVE HIM. ♥_♥ Wasn't he supposed to appear in Batgirl at some point? IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

The Good Wife needs to stop breaking my heart. THEY MADE KALINDA CRY. And laugh hysterically at the irony of things. Not to mention the moment where she actually breaks down and tries to explain things to Alicia. I just. GNGH. I believe this is the most emotion she's ever displayed.
I was sort of prepared for the first confrontation scene, because they aired bits of it in the promos, but even then, Kalinda's face and Alicia's hurt:
"It is selfish to say anything after that."
Oh, Alicia. Julianna Margulies needs to win ALL THE AWARDS for her acting in this scene. Also Archie Punjabi, for fumbling with her notebook and stumbling out of the office the way she did, not quite steady, and then breaking down inside the elevator. *cries*
It makes sense that Kalinda would decide to quit, because that's what she does - when she moves on, she moves on. I loved the scenes between her and Will in this episode, the hint of a shared history (how did Will hire Kalinda? how do they know each other? I WANT TO KNOW) and their odd little friendship:
"What are you, a Dylan song? You said you'd have my back."
It's interesting that Kalinda always cuts right through Will's bullcrap and gets him to talk about Alicia, pushes him to do something about the unresolved issues, and Will actually opens up and talks. She did the same thing in the LOL HUGO CHAVEZ episode:
"You should tell her how fantastic she is."
"She knows."
"You should tell her." (camera focuses on Kalinda's face) "People like to be told."
I really, really want to see more of this explored, because I think Will and Kalinda make awesome friends.
And, ugh, the next confrontation in the prep scene. I was NOT prepared for Kalinda trying to use her words and explain:
"I do that. It means nothing to me, I do that. Look, Alicia, I didn't know you. I'd never even seen a picture of you. To me you were the housewife. Then I met you, and I liked you, I liked working with you, I liked talking with you, I felt bad. I don't like feeling bad."
I believe this is the longest Kalinda has spoken about her feelings. About anything. And as I said the other day, they're both in a horribly difficult situation. Kalinda hurt Alicia before she even knew Alicia, and it didn't matter to her then, she doesn't have Alicia's moral compass and she's never cared. But then they became friends, and that's something that doesn't happen to her, ever. Alicia, of course, can only think of one thing: 'Every step of the way you just looked at me, and you knew?' It's a betrayal. And Alicia's had it with being betrayed by the people who were closest to her.
Also, the last scene between Will and Kalinda. GOLD. I loved the little smiles of understanding between them, and Will trying to get her to talk for a change:
"At some point, Kalinda, you're going to have to confide in someone."
"No, I don't. You know what I discovered? I never have to confide in anyone."
Kalinda Sharma is done with friendships. And feelings. Because they only end up in a lot of hurt, and Kalinda is a ~LONE WOLF. (If Kalinda and Cara belonged to the same universe, they would be BFFs. They would bond over how important it is to not have feelings and have a lot of sex that would, of course, have nothing to do with feelings.)
I repeat: ALL THE AWARDS. Last night I dreamed that Anna Torv won an award for Fringe, but since that's never going to happen, I'll settle for Julianna Margulies and Archie Punjabi winning all the awards everywhere.

Date: 2011-05-11 01:45 pm (UTC)There is pretty much nothing I don't love about him. And Paco and Brenda!
The Good Wife was so amazing last night. I totally teared up when Alicia almost lost it in her confrontation with Kalinda and then Kalinda finally broke down in the elevator. SO HEARTBREAKING. PLEASE TO MAKE UP NOW LADIES.

Date: 2011-05-11 05:17 pm (UTC)They're going to milk the break-up for all it's worth now, I just know it. And in a way I really appreciate it, because this, right now, is the central relationship in the show - the most passionate one (and I don't even mean that in a shippy way. not that I'm opposed to shipping them), and that doesn't happen very often with two female characters. I love how they slowly built up the progress of their friendship throughout the season, so that the fallout really hurts. BUT NOW I WANT THEM TO BE FRIENDS AGAIN, IF THIS SHOW ISN'T RENEWED I WILL CRY FOREVER.
