From the library catalogue of 19th century-early 20th century texts, a couple of summaries:

A pastoral story depicting the joys and sorrows, love and disappointments and other experiences of goats and sheep.

A work on the prognostications from the cry of the lizard*, with a foreword by Major T.L. Bomford.

* considered an omen in some circles

I really love my work sometimes.

Any job that involves such texts is an excellent job. Now I'm curious about what joys, sorrows, loves, and disappointments those turn-of-the-century sheep experienced...

My job doesn't actually involve those texts, alas. I was going through the catalogues to prepare my own list when I ran into them.

My job, of course, makes me realise every day that the world is only so terrible because we make it so. Sigh.

Hee, I don't actually know what's in there - my research is not that awesome. I found them, among various other gems, while going through the catalogues and preparing my own list. It's a relief from the usual things that I read!
