First things first. [livejournal.com profile] jaybee65 - I have an excellent Blackfic for you to read(unless you've read it already, of course *g*):The Sun Burst Through In Unlooked for Directions by [livejournal.com profile] spessartine (Regulus/Sirius, Regulus/Bellatrix). Gah! Just... gah!

Moving on.

So, after cutting and pasting a picture of boobies instead of the thing I was supposed to paste for [livejournal.com profile] msgenevieve on MSN yesterday evening, I realised that maybe I should finally make some effort to get rid of the damn spyware from my computer. So far, I've used Ad-aware, which doesn't spot this particular spyware at all, and Spybot, which does spot it, but the thing comes back after restarting the computer. Any suggestions to which software I should use? I'm kind of getting tired of the 'Naked Celebrities!' and 'Babes on your desktop!' popping up every now and then.

And finally - my mystery illness has finally been diagnosed. (er yes, I've been a bit down this past month or so. it's one of the reasons why I've barely been around) It is the asthma. Which really shouldn't have been a mystery, considering that I've had it since, oh, I was six months old (or so I am told), and that it used to give me quite a bit of trouble back in the days (troubled my parents, I mean; I just lay in bed and coughed). I haven't had a trouble with it for ages now (even though I carry an inhaler with me all the time. usually), which sort of made me forgetful and complacent, so when I was coughing and wheezing and getting out of breath walking to the next room, I attributed it to the cold. No, I don't know why. How did I not recognise the symptoms? *smacks stupid self on the head*

Of course, it was my mother who finally realised what was up with me (bless her), and why I couldn't seem to get well even after a *month* and some heavy medication - I kept insisting (even to the doctor) that I had a cold, not asthma. I was not having trouble breathing, how could I have asthma? *smacks moronic self some more*

Anyway, I'm taking the asthma medicines now (which, by the way, are very annoying as they make me all dizzy and light-headed), am feeling fine, just did an impromptu dance around the room, should be even able to swim the next week (*crosses fingers*), and an generally very, very glad. *g*

Oh, good news on the health thing. Didn't realise you'd been feeling lousy or I would have sent you something. Hugs, maybe? (no, really ;)

As for your spyware, those are the best two spy busters I know of, but the process matters too. I don't know what system you're running, but if you haven't already read this (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/bugbusting.msp), then it might help.

Are you sure they won't make *you* ill? I decided to keep quiet because if I started whining, I would.not.stop. And trust me, Whiny!Swatkat is also Very!Annoying!Swatkat and Needs-a-smack-upside-the-head!Swatkat. *g*

Thanks for the link. *goes to read*

I use Ad-Aware and Spybot too. I'd suggest making sure you have the most current definitions for both products. If it's respawning after you reboot, you could try booting up in Safe Mode and then running the programs. You could also research which bug you have and figure out what files you need to get rid of, and do it manually in Safe Mode.

It *is* respawning, so I think I'll go try this. Thanks! *g*

I recently had to deal with a computer at work that someone had infected with the Spyware from Hell -- constant pop-ups about every ten seconds, neither Ad-Aware nor Spybot could defeat them, and attempts at manual removal by our computer techs failed, too.

We were about to give up completely and do a clean reinstall, but someone suggested using a program called Super Ad Blocker, and it seems to have worked. It's not free, but they *do* have a free trial version, so you can at least test it and see if it works. If it does, it might be worth paying for -- I know it was for us.

Hmm. I'll go and google for that one. Thanks for the advice - so far I've made no progress with either of the softwares.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better

or at least understanding why you were feeling worse.

Can't help with the spy thing -- I run a Mac and have never bothered to learn about the other stuff.

The spyware is unbearable.
