[livejournal.com profile] jaybee65, I *really* like Bree. She gets more interesting with every episode! I'm honestly surprised that I'm enjoying this show, and actually taking an interest in a character - but I am! *g* It's a good show. And Bree is fascinating. It would've been so easy for her to fall into the usual victim trap, but the writers have successfully managed to write her with enough faults of her own. I love how she gets everyone to open up to her, and yet won't say a word about herself, because saying would mean accepting, and she won't (can't) accept. And I suspect that a part of her *did* believe that it'll be alright - although maybe that part died when she went looking for a lawyer (she needs to meet Lilah, of course).

Yay!

Someone else to squee with!

The series is really an interesting combination of things -- dark, funny, and sad, all at once, and with a soap opera's addictive qualities. I think Bree is by far the most complex character -- which is especially fun given that she started out as perhaps the most outrageous and cartoonish stereotype.

If you think she's fascinating now, though, I can't wait until you finish the whole season. *Bounces impatiently*

Aren't you glad you were travelling with me last fall Janet? Just think if I hadn't been addicted to it and insisted on watching it, you might never have found the joys of Bree.

She fascinates me too and she's my favorite character. Susan just irritates me and I want to slap the crap out of her..LOL.

This is so true! It's all your fault. ;-)

Susan annoys me a lot, but I do like watching her interactions with Edie.

Bree is my favorite too, mostly because she's by far the most interesting of the bunch, and has completely escaped her cliche'd character and become something far more compelling.

The rest are still cliches. Reasonably well done and entertaining, but still, pretty predictable.

Bree - Bree has reached beyond that and surprises me. I bet she surprised the writers too. *g*

Marc Cherry, the creator/main writer, has said in interviews that Bree is based on his mother, so perhaps that's why she's getting meatier characterization than the others. (This would make Andrew his Gary Stu, which is hilarious, because Andrew is in so many ways a completely spoiled and despicable brat. LOL.)

I don't particularly mind Susan. It's Gabrielle who annoys me the most. *g*

They *are* cliches, but they're often spot on, which makes it interesting rather than annoying. *g*
