Here's to truth, justice, freedom, (reasonably-priced) love and a hard-boiled egg!

* 'You know what day it is, Ping?' said Colon.

'Er... twenty-fifth of May, sarge.'

'And you know what that means, Ping?'

'Er...'

'It means.' said Nobby, 'that anyone important enough to ask where we're going - '

'- knows where we've gone,' said Fred Colon.

The door slammed behind them.

- Night Watch, Terry Pratchett

It's Lilac Day in Pratchettland, so everyone is celebrating. The book in question - Night Watch - is also known as the 'best Pratchett evah!!1' among most fannish circles, and that's really saying something. *g*

You should give Pratchett a try, you know.

I'm not actually sure that Night Watch is my favorite - though I do like it very, very much! Honestly - I'm not entirely sure what my favorite is.....

I did like Monstrous Regiment, which I gather some don't - but I'm having a bit of trouble getting into Carpe Jugularem.

Night Watch is my favourite. And Feet of Clay. And Reaper Man. And Fifth Elephant. And Thief of Time. And...

See? *g*

But yes, most people in fandom will say that Night Watch is at least one of their favourites, if not THE favourite, so that's something.

I love Monstrous Regiment. People don't like it because a. it's about women (*gasp*) b. the ending, which, I admit, was slightly over-the-top. but he did get his point across, especially with *Blouse* (who in my head looks like a Sunnydale!Wesley) being the only 'man' standing c. because the cool androgynous hot character is actually not male and therefore OMGnothot!!1!, to which I say 'bwah? she's still hot!'. And yes about CJ! It hurts me to say this about a Witch book, but I had difficulty with the book as well. I've been meaning to re-read it again - give it another chance and figure out *what's* wrong with it. Maybe we'll chat about it when you're done. *g*

I think Jackrum is quite hot. But then, my slash goggles came broken.... ;-)
