Aha. I just needed some basic information - I did try using it, but lost my patience with the thing after a while. What I wanted to know was, who are the people who primarily use MySpace? And why do LJers in general find it annoying? And there are some famous people with MySpaces of their own, yes?
Jordan Pacitti (dancer) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=24634476
James Reed (dancer/dj) http://www.myspace.com/jamesreed
Rhys Chatham (composer) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=49290242
Some of these are better known than others -- most of the dancers are fairly young and are on MySpace to make friends rather than promote their dancing. The companies and other organizations are there to raise their visibility among a younger audience than they normally attract.
Hope this helps -- if you've got more specific questions just ask them.
MySpace is mostly populated by people high school-age and younger. Among the few adults using it, a disproportionate number seem to be people in the music industry. I think in part because MySpace makes it very easy to link to music samples and such.
I hate going there because the pages are too busy, and yet seem to have very little of interest.
